for the right price, but I was really hoping for white, am I crazy and that is the same kind or.....

That looks more like crushed coral to me. I get my sand at the LFS...it's expensive but what isn't in this hobby.

I think mine sells it for $30/40#.

+1 crushed coral. I just had a thought, what about buying it from a stone center. I buy bulk sand for 13 bucks a ton. Has any one tried this

i am almost certain the pictured sand is the same as the sand you have in the link there. The lighting just makes it look different.

its Crushed coral and you dont want it in a reef tank maybe in a fish only tank.

i buy mine from the LFS and i get sand from daytona beach,fl and the jersey shore.

Crushed coral looks good at first. then it traps all the waste. hard for nails to borrow.there is a long list but I'm not an expert. i have had CC and have seen issues first hand. As a result i don't use and wouldn't recommend.

If you look at the picture you will see the live rock has no color either. All of the corals are frags. This looks like it is a new tank that had a nice and white crushed coral bottom.

You can see the same white bottom using a finer and more appropriate sand. The trick is to keep it clean so that it stays white. That can be a challenge with a million different answers, most of which are going to be suggestions for critters that clean the sand. I have always heard that a sea cucumber can do a really good job of keeping the sand clean. I have stayed away from them due to some of the bad stories but I intend to try one in a few months.

its hard to see but when this tank was 6 months old this is what the crushed coral looked like. as you can see its not white any more. also its a pain to clean with coral and rock in place.
