quiet return pump recommendations

Thinking about replacing my Sicce 3.0 not-so-silent pump to something quieter.
The eheim 1260 would have been perfect, but I have 2 separate returns which would require 2 pumps. Together they are too big to fit inside the sump pump compartment.

Any recommendations ?
 
Agreed ^.. Plus you can get a larger one for both return ports . A few friends have the jebaos DC 12000 and they have been great so far.
 
Eheim compact pumps very strong and quiet for their size and can't go wrong with the build quality of eheim

I went with 2 pumps for a bit of redundancy in case one of them stops while I'm away on vacations.
 
I think I may have the height for 2 Eheim 1260.
Is it a bad idea to stack them with the return plumbing on opposite ends ?

Yeah I have 3x Sicce syncra pumps a 5, 4 and & 2 and I feel they are basically the quietest pumps I've run.

I do get the redundancy aspect of your design though.
 
I love my new Vertex V6. Super quiet and just as efficient as a DC pump, but uses a reliable Askoll motorblock. I still have my DC pump that you're welcome to borrow to see how it works.
 
IMO, most of the time noise are due to vibration. Use a pad or rubble feet under the pump. also if the return hose touches the sump wall or any other parts will create noise as well.
 
Went from Sicce 5.0 to Laguna maxflow 1350; only regret......wish I had done this sooner!
It's energy efficient - 75w compared to 105w for Sicce 5, very quiet (actually thought my sicce was too loud), smaller size with fantastic head pressure. It's the same pump as the ultra reliable ATB Flowstar, but much less costly. Both made in Italy. I did consider Jebao DC pumps but after hearing negative feedback, I decided against it especially since the return pump is the heart of your system.

Yes, the Laguna, ATB, and Vertex all use the same Askoll motorblock. Somehow they are re-tooling them to be more efficient. The Vertex churns out 1584 GPH at 65 watts. I decided to swap out my DC pump for the reliability factor too -- it's not to say that they don't work, but knowing my luck, I'd be the one to get one that malfunctions or dies while I'm out of town.

Yes I agree.
The things that I've tried and improved the noise level somewhat -
added rubber mats under each pump
replaced a section of hard plumping with flex tubing
orient plumbing so nothing is touching the sump or the cabinet

But the pumps still gives off that constant hum that's annoying.

Have you opened up the pumps to see if the impellers are swollen? My skimmer started making noise and it turned out that I needed to replace the impeller on the pump (which is a Sicce).

Is there a smaller laguna maxflow model in terms of size and power so I can use 2 for returns ?

It's been a while since I checked, but I'll do that at my next WC. Thanks for reminding me.
