Quite a deal me thinks

breutus

Don't ask me, I'm wrong.
Thought I'd let everyone in on the deal!

I stopped by the Petco in the Fenton (bluffs) just to see there Sat shipment and WOW they started carrying small corals and they had several 250+ ployp Zoo rocks that were only twenty dollars!!!
I was talking to the manager of the fish department and it's her understanding that they are expecting shipments like these over the next couple of weekends because they are wanting to see if they sell for them!

Here is an image of the one I picked up and it was on the small side but I really liked the colors on these there were many that were orange and some that were a bright green

I'll have to get some more pics after it opens up!

Well I didn't dip them but this petco always gets there sat shipment the night before so they can get them in the tanks and ready for sale by the next morning. So it had hardly been in there tank for but an hour and even better than that this store has a separate salt tank that they keep there better stuff in and it's not in with the main water system so it rarely looks bad

I would worry about the holding tank they came from before arriving at Petco.

Hmmm never really thought about it before... I wonder where they get there's from, I just always assumed that Petco's fish were... well the way the are because of the stores tanks...:(

Well either way there in there now well see how it goes! I'll let ya know!:D

Starting to open up more already.

They seemed more orange green in the store and in my tank there showing up as much more of an orange blue but I'm certainly happy with that to.:)

Dip everything. Even if you get it from a fellow reefer. You never know and it only takes a few minutes. Also, from my understanding, numerous fish shipments to petco come from the same place some of the LFS get them from. I was always told to go on Sat. morning and wait, that way they didn't have to be acclimated twice. So, not sure if the corals are the same but I'm assuming it will be similar, however, pretty limited.

Remember though, dip your corals. You can wipe out quite a bit.

BTW- I forgot to catch up with you. Give me a call tomm.

Yes, after loosing half my zoo's in my 180 I will dip every zoo from here out.

A little dip and you should be good to go. Good buy for that many zoo's

Thanks Im lon

Thank you Justin and JX, I thought that was the case but wasn't sure So I wasn't gonna say anything. They definitly come from the same place as many of the LFS. And on there site it says they do the corals for many of them also.

Okay call me a complete noobie but what do you guys mean by a dip???
Do you mean a FW dip cause I thought that was bad for corals.

Normally I just Quarantine everything, but the tank I was using for that is kinda of shattered into a thousand pieces right now:rolleyes:

The coral come from a vendor in California, I do not remember the name of the vendor. Most of petcos fish come from APET or Segrest farms, depending on which location you are at.

Just back from shopping

Just back from shopping

And the last zoa's from Gravois Blufs are SOLD to an employee. It is a HUGE rock but under th lights you couldn't tell what they would look like under good lights. They still has a brown frilly mushroom for $23. They also had a real deal on Flame Hawkfish. FREE. But the catch was... they were dead.

None in stock at the 14xxx Manchester or Lindbergh and Big Bend.

Manchester did have a nice eibli angel for $23.

Petco in edwardsville, Brentwood (it think its off I-67), and Osage Beach run T5 50/50 lighting i'm not sure if its HO or not but the coral in Edwardsville, IL looked really good under the lighting. one colony was brown zoanthids so nothing too exciting.

Regardless of where they get them I still don't support their habits and won't buy their stuff regardless of where it's fromm.

i noticed the segrest farms also supplies a little hole in the wall place called sea world pets in wood river(pet grooming), they don't have much but what they do have as far as fish and inverts is good prices had the old man order me some sand sifting cucumbers since nemos can't ever get them and aquatic treasures only had filter feeding cukes. For a little pet store the old man will try to get whatever you want i'd have to give it to him for that. I got my sand sifting cukes in a week after asking him.

I wanna see more pictures! I know I'm gonna have my mom check next saturday morning considering she lives in fenton.
