Quoyi parrotfish reef safe?

There is another one coming up on DD today just a FYI for those that are looking. I will finally put a pic up of mine today when I get home. Beachbreak, I will cherish every moment! Ah yes baby proofing the fish tank will be a challenge for me as well, or at least baby proofing my sump. Since I need a ladder to get into my tank I don't think the baby will be causing too much trouble... Knock on wood

Looking forward to seeing that picture Dmorty.

Here's a shot of mine in his sleeping spot, he love my devil's hand leather.

Nice shot!

A little update on my Quoyi. He is still in the quarantine tank. Has two more weeks( Cupramine) to go. He's been eating real well, but seems to gobble up on the pellet foods. Goes crazy on it..

Pics! Yes, I think pellets are my parrot's favorite as well. Seaweed is a close second.

Ok well after 3 days and a couple what seemed like hundred pics later I have this one which isn't the best, but I will take more. It is tough to get a good IPad pic when he is flying around the tank! I will take some right before the lights go out, since he seems to be most stationary at that time. Mine eats everything but loves pellets, mysis, and nori

Thanks for the picture! I was finding mine extremely hard to get a picture of also. His colors pop under my halides and it makes my iPhone unable to focus.

Is anyone's Quoyi eating silversides like DD claimed they had theirs eating? What about krill or clams or anything like that?

I honestly haven't tried feeding mine silversides... not a big fan of the idea. Mine eats chopped krill and clam. He goes nuts for clam on the half shell, but doesn't like eating large pieces of meat in one bite. He oftentimes just rips the main piece off and the other fish attack it while he nibbles on the leftovers on the shell.

Mine's the same... really doesn't care for large pieces of anything. Surprising considering the size of his mouth

Of, I caught him "flashing" again last night. I'll have to keep the camera handy next time so I can get some pics. The color change is pretty neat!

I hung a small sheet of nori, and my quoyi tore it up. So it looks like pellets, and seaweed is his favorite foods..

Nori is the favorite for mine too. I've been experimenting with the New Era mini grazers lately too (don't last an hour in my tank) and he really likes those too.

Mine doesn't like big pieces of anything either including pellets. I have medium size formula 2 pellets and he won't touch them but loves the smaller size ones same thing with the spectrum pellets. I will try clam and krill chopped up. Loves the nori but if he rips off too big a piece he spits it out... He is picky

The first week or so I had mine he would spit out food - but honestly I'm finding that to be semi-normal behavior when teaching picky fish to eat new foods. If he's taking it into his mouth at all, it's only a matter of time before he keeps it down. I think it took 3 days for mine to actually start consuming food rather than sampling it and spitting it back out. Now he's the biggest pig in the tank.

Here's the pellets that my Quoyi gobbles up.. I got it from Aaron at Reef Animals. He was using it too at his facility..
