Quoyi parrotfish reef safe?

A recent picture:

He still looks good to me.. Are you thinking he's losing the pink? Could just be the angle of the recent photo but I still see a lot of color on him.

Yeah, the fuchsia is definitely muted at this point... as is the green somewhat.

When I first got him (which BTW was back in 2012, not 2013, based on the date of the photo album these are from):

Ok, I can definitely see the difference with those pictures! I read on Copps thread that he's going to have a trio in his new tank, maybe being in sight of a female will help bring the color back? I've never seen one available.

I tried looking through the fishbase photos, but wasn't quite sure if more or less red meant anything.

Hard to tell the only way to be sure is have three of them and see which two get along the best and see how it goes. I would love to have a pair in my next tank. I wonder if that something Kevin Kohen can look into with the DD selection? Liveaquaria has been selling a ton of fish for a long time.

I wonder would any other species female or even male help.... without bloodshed of course :)

As for diet I've been thinking... really all they eat is algae... I'd be surprised that with everything I feed including high content spirulina pellets... that really can't be it, right?

I'm fairly sure from my experience that interaction between another fish species will yield a response, but first you must know the sex of yours. I'm assuming from the interaction between my parrot and male BT trigger that my parrot is a male as well. When the trigger went into heat with the female trigger, the male trigger and parrot were at war. When the female passed, the two (assumed) males didn't fight anymore.

This is, of course speculation, and I can't guarantee that you will have good or bad results, but if I'm right we may be onto something... Also, my parrot isn't as old as yours...

I think that you are feeding the right stuff (mostly algae) but there is some algae that grows in the ocean that we can't easily buy in a pellet or sheet form to feed to them. They probably eat some golden algae that that seems like a myth to us

Got me one

Got me one

What a beautiful fish. Just put it in QT a couple of hours ago. For now just sitting in a corner thinking I can't see him. You all had good luck feeding pellets in QT. Any other tricks to pass on?
Thanks

Start introducing nori, on a clip and you can also shred some up by rubbing it underwater. Pellets like you said, mine prefers pellets and nori over mysis,brine,clam,squid,silversides,krill,plankton... You name it. Feed formula, spirulina and algae max pellets. Mine seems to prefer smaller pellets over larger ones (2mm) He is close to 7.5" now. I would PP even though the fish came from DD but that's just me
