Well we no longer have our RBTA, it had been a nice colorful member of our tank community. :( A couple nights ago I was looking at the tank and saw it decided to move after being in the same spot for months. When I saw it it was in the middle of the tank on the back glass. The next afternoon I was looking around in the tank trying to see where it went but couldn't find it. Then I saw some glowing red tentacles floating around on the sand, that wasn't a good sign! Looked around more and found a big blob of goo stuck to a powerhead. So I guess it took a stroll too close to the powerhead, stupid thing! Too bad, it was really nice looking and never did split, just stayed nice and big.

Aw man Michelle so sorry. That was a beautifull anemone.

I try to keep baskets on my PH's cuz Ive had fish and snails and such get sucked up.
In my 55 I put bridal veil with a rubberband around mine for my skimmer so the brittle stars don't get sucked up.

It actually does have a basket thing on it, but it was stuck to the basket. Looks like it tried to crawl on it and just got stuck with the suction, there were bits pulled through the basket a little.

I'm really surprised it never split. Scott thought it probably would soon after I got it from him cuz it was so big. It developed what looked like another small mouth several months ago but just never went any farther than that. We were good with that since it was so nice looking and didn't want it to split and then move around, now I wish it had split!

Dang so sorry.
I didnt think they would get stuck enough to kill them with a basket on it.
I read a thread somewhere talking about getting RBTA'S to split.
This guy would do large water changes and everytime he did his RBTA's split. He ended up with like over 50 of them lol.
The only time they split was when he did that. I don't remember where I read it though. I think it was at Melevs site.

Isn't it true that a dead/injured anemone can poison/taint the whole tank?

Good thing that didn't happen and you loose the whole tank load over one dead one.

Sorry for your loss

Was the anenome mush, or did it look to be just missing part of its body, that case it might still be alive if not mush, they do heal quickly but look a little funny for about 6 months, My LTA hit the power head 3 times totally chopping it in half the 3rd time, it looked like it was sucked up and dead forsure, shut the power head off and out he came on its own, and now a yr later you could never tell !

No they don't poison the tank Bri.
If they die and rot without you taking them out they can fowel (foul, fowl? lol) the tank though.

I do remember Barry and Joes got stuck in the PH or something and got chopped up and lived also.
