Rabbitfish Question.

CU kills

I was wondering how long does it take for a Foxface Rabbitfish to reach adult size? I have a 35g tank that crashed due to a skimmer malfunction, and now has an abundance of algae. I am planning to upgrade the tank to a 180 in about 2 years. Would the fish outgrow my tank in that time? If so I have a friend from my reef club who would be willing to take it after it has helped clean the tank. Is this a good idea or is there a better option which I could take?

The only other fish would a perc clown and a green clown goby. I have a CPR Bak-Pak2R+ skimmer, two Rio50 PH's (one high one low) which are on a day/nite cycle, and two Koralia 2 PH's (one high one low), all the pumps face opposite each other to create turbulence. I.E. one Rio facing one Koralia.

That would really be pushing it, but with a clear understanding he goes out when he starts being spooked out---you just need to watch oxygenation and I would add a phosban reactor, or all that algae-food is just going to go back into your tank---read: when the rabbit leaves it regrows unless you have gotten the phosphate out. Also be aware they are venomous, so be very careful of him.

Actually I ran phosban in a filter along with purigen and Activated carbon after the skimmer died to keep the water clean. There was no clean up crew for almost 2 months, which allowed the algae to take over since no one was there to keep it in check. After I added the new clean up crew the sea hare (which was recommended for the job) died while I was at work and released toxins killing all but 3 nerites, 2 scarlet hermits, 1 serpent star, and one perc clown. I will be getting more clean up crew, but as the rabbit outgrows the tank he would find a new good home.
