Rabbitfish

I have a heavily planted tank and want to add a rabbitfish. Do they actually eat macro or just kind of graze if they are hungry? Basically Im wondering if it would destroy the tank or just keep it nice and pruned back? Apparently it is eating crazy amounts of nori now and I worry it will just eat that but move on to my macros right after. He would have no other compitition in the tank for the nori if that makes any difference.

I think that any rabbitfish is a big risk to your macro. Most every one that I have had would eat hair and most other types. What kind is it?

Im getting very mixed responses in different threads. Is this from experience? I have had other people who have them with macro say that they just keep them pruned back which is exactly what I want.

If you add a rabbit you wont have a macro tank anymore. They will devour all your macros.

What species was/is your rabbit and what kind of macro?

I have a 2-barred rabbit in my reef and it has completely consumed all of my macros. All of my rocks are super clean and at one point I had a bubble problem and it mowed them down in a matter of a week. I don't have a macro tank just a reef, but the way my rabbit eats I wouldn't trust mine in a macro tank. It may be just my fish though. Now I am sure if the tank was large enough the rabbit wouldn't be able to eat as much as the macro would grow.

Yeah ok that makes sense. I don't think Im going to risk it.

For what it's worth, Rabbitfish or Foxface, as they are also called, are really awesome fish... very personable and fun to watch. I can understand you not wanting it to eat all of your macro though.
