Nope. Even the most reef safe butterflies like Mitratus, Tinkers, Burgess, and Copperbands will pick at clams. Racoons are one of the more destructive.

No offense, but are you speaking from personal experience or something you have read? I have done my research, I do understand the potential damage he can do. I just wondered if anyone had successfully kept one with a clam I guess. Let's remember all fish are different. Some can be model citizens, some can be for a while then go ballistic, and some just go crazy right from the start..ripping up your tank. I kept a copperband in the past with two blue croceas, he never touched them. He did however whack my female clown by her eye..and kept trying to steal their eggs off the glass.

Butterflies and angels are my favorite fish I have been experimenting for years with keeping these fish in reef tanks and I can say from experience that the chances are very high that it will kill your clam. Keep in mind that the racoon only has to pick at the clam and this will stress it out enough to kill it.
Unlike some of the other hit or miss fish like most angels and some butterflies like copperbands racoons actually eat clams in the wild along with shrimp, snails, crabs, and SPS coral polyps. I consider them one of the most destructive fish you can put in a reef tank.

BTW - These fish sometimes have a hard time accepting prepared foods when first introduced to an aquarium and the main thing experts feed them to get them to start eating are fresh clams. They can't resist them and make short work of an entire clam in just a few minutes.
