How long can they live for? I've had mine for about 5 years and today it started to swim eradicately. Only swimming with its find and not using its tail. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a spinal injury.

Life span is longer than 5 years, but unless it was a juvi when you purchased, age is hard to put a finger on.

Agreed, but spinal injuries on fish are neither as debilitating nor as permanent as they are in people. I have seen many fish with spinal injuries recover in a short time.

I hope so. It's my oldest fish that has survived everything my tank has gone thru in the last five years.
