Radion G4 first impressions.

Purchased a Radion G4 coming from a heavy aqua illumination user and am quite impressed with Ecotech's latest Radion. I have it paired with a IM lagoon 50 and the spread is outstanding with very little light spill. Someone mentioned they were worried with the new HEI lense glare and though you can see light while sitting, it is not distracting at night imo.
I set the Coral Lab AB+ template and LOVE the color temperature and noticed my corals responding right away. Pretty impressive since I was always messing with the spectrum never knowing what the coral truly was looking for and probably stressing them out. Thumbs up on this upgrade!

What's the difference between the G4 and G4Pro?

More colors. Pro adds warm white and much more violet which makes a big difference. Honestly they made the regular g4 crappy now compared to the pro. Before the difference wasn't as drastic.

Sorry guys I didnt see any replies to this post. My tank is a IM Lagoon 50. (30x24x16) Coverage is outstanding and since I purchased it, I haven't touched the settings once. I'm running the coral labs ab+ preset at 60%. I have the acclimation feature turned on that starts at 40% and 4 weeks later finishes at 60%. I have only owned AI hydras and maxspect nano to compare to, but this is my favorite light. My corals honestly responded favorably within hours. You can see some glare while sitting close to the tank, but it is not distracting at all and i have not had anyone comment on glare while looking at the tank from any angle. Only compliments!

Every day I'm getting more color where i was struggling with the AI's. Not that the AI's arent capable, but more so that the coral labs preset is a proven kelvin for growth and color and i don't have to keep adjusting. I really am thrilled with this light. I had 3 ai primes prior and the g4 has same coverage with one light. I quickly sold them.... I cant take a good picture of the light in action, but the iphone extremely exaggerates the glare.

I agree that the G4 Pros are impressive.
Came from two Gen1 XR30s on a 36"x24"x18" tank to two Gen4 XR15s and the tank is just as bright but with better color.

Only thing that I did notice with the G4s is the eye glare from the dimpled lenses. A bit distracting on an open top setup.

Was the sps ab+ setting a default in your G4 radions? I can seem to find that file for the g4 pro and it's not listed in my default settings.

Go to Ecosmart Live>Schedule Options>Load From Template>Coral Lab>Sub Templates>SPS AB+

I switched from g3 pros to g4 pros and have noticed increased lux right out of the gate, and in my reef which has approximately 75% negative space (most of the animals are between 16 and 18inches from surface) my par values are flat across the whole reef quite impressed with that . ive tried kessils they're beautiful to the eye but the radion is a better light imo. zsu

So when I switched from Gen1s to Gen4s, I mentioned that the dimpled lens caused considerable eye glare based on the height of where the lights are mounted and of course how tall I am. (Tall peeps most likely do not see the glare, Lol!)
So I did an extremely simple DIY black cardboard visor type thingy just for the front of the fixture and it makes all the difference in my situation. Thought I'd share:
1st pic is my frontal tank view with unmodified G4-XR15s, 2nd pic is the black cardboard visor, 3rd pic is the same frontal tank view (for me) with the cardboard visors on.

No meter readings. I find all LED fixtures have shadowing issues unless you over compensate by increasing the amount of clusters/fixtures. Depends on what you want to keep in the tank. If I were to keep SPS, I would have two XR30s rather then the two XR15s currently.

Just got my G4 Pro installed over the weekend. Very impressive so far...all milliporas are seem to be hairier with the coral lab ab template. I have a few pix to share.
