Radion Powered SPS Nanocube

You are having great success with your radieons, would you mind sharing the intensity schedule and color temps that you are using? I am still trying to get my radieon dialed in right.

i find dosing AA causes algae..you dont get that problem?

I haven't noticed a difference in algae since I started dosing AA's a 3 or 4 months ago. I also run an oversized skimmer, GFO reactor, and GAC reactor and only dose the AA's at suggested starting amount listed on the bottle.

Looks great! I can't run my radions nearly that strong on my 40 breeder. At 40% I get severe burn but I also have two units over the tank so maybe thats the issue. Any tricks of the trade you would like to share?

Thanks! I started low down at 20% after bleaching everything trying to start at 40%. I just ramped a few percent (2-5) every week until color and growth really came in. It took months, I've been using the Radion since it came out in October. HTH!!

Very nice tank, and the way you have set up, like everyone said to you very sharp. I bet you love you your radion led, i own 3 units and i agrred on you answer, better then mh, question you used calcium reactor or you used 2 part to keep up with you sps, i have a hard time with sps maybe because i have a lot fish most of them are tang, how often you due water changes? My tank is 140gl and a 36gl sump and i due water changes every 2 weeks 20 percent due you think i need to increase my percent of water so i my sps and lps grow? Thank you for sharing your comments and pictures

Thanks for the comments Hector! I used to do water changes once a week, and I still try to, though I'll admit I have been slightly neglecting the tank lately and it's pushed out closer to every 2-wks. Each WC is 5g for my 28g. I use a 3-way BubbleMagus dosing pump and BRS 2-part + Mg solutions. I dose as many intervals per day as possible for my current dosing amounts (currently 32mL Ca/Alk and 12mL Mg).

As far as your tank, my best suggestion based on my experience is to feed a lot and have a lot of fish poop! I have 7 fish in my 28, and I feed at least twice a day, plus add AA's and a nighttime dose of phyto/zoo plankton for the SPS. Tons of feeding I know, but I get away with it by running an oversized skimmer, GFO reactor, and GAC reactor, as well as keeping a serious CUC in the tank. Seems to be working for me after about 1.5-yrs, though everybody has a different approach.

I'm getting growth under the radion but color no where close to what you are getting. I'm running Prodibio (nutrient poor), add bionic 2-part and only recently just added two clown fish. What do you feed your fish and exactly what do you feed your corals? Thanks in advance.

Beautiful tank BTW

Nice pictures like always and is it me or is the ora green stylo much harder to find compared to the purple one....

I'd tend to agree, I definitely see the purple one more often at the LFS. The green one is pretty tough to frag because it's so dense, so that could explain it.

Nice corals. Looks like you're getting great colour under those Radions.

Thanks!! I'm really happy with the light, been getting great growth and color.

I feed a bunch, both fish and corals. I try to feed 2-3x daily and alternate between various foods. Daily foods include New Life Spectrum Thera + A and Brightwell AA's. I also alternate a bunch of other foods including frozen: mysis, baby brine, cyclopeeze, squid. Liquid: zooplankton, phytoplankton, and oyster eggs.

What the distance from the radion to the first SPS in your tank?

It's about 9" over the water, so roughly 11".

Lol, i was reading this morning you had exceeded you pic bandwidth and was looking forward to seeing your pics only to find it had happened again. Looking forward to checking in on another day.

Ay yay yay, I know!! Yall are crashing my photobucket in less than a week, LOL!! I guess I am going to have to pay or switch to Flickr full time, I just normally keep Flickr for my more "artistic" side...

I do have a small set up on Flickr, a tad out of date at this point, but still some of my faves:
