Radium w/o HQI?

I was thinking of running 3 Radium 400w bulbs to replace my current Reeflux 12ks. I have never heard of what they would look like on Coralvue dimmable ballast...or what the par etc would be. Any thoughts will be welcomed.

The Coralvue ballast can overdrive the bulbs by 10% which is what they need. They'd look amazing.

I just fired mine up on the cv dimmables last week. Much nicer than the reeflux 12k to my eyes. I always wanted to add more actinics to the reeflux to get the color I wanted. The radiums already have that color and are brighter to boot. I have them turned all the way up. We'll see how things react. So far so good.

I just saw this thread again. The 400 watt radiums do not need to be overdrived. Only the 250 Radiums do.

250 Radium = 295 watts
400 Radium = 400 watts

Actually, the 400 watt bulbs are only rated to 360 watts, so they are overdriven, hence the shorter lifetime when compared to the 250s

So what would the cv dimable ballast do?

Yes it will work just fine. If it was the 250 watt bulb, no it wouldn't drive to specs, but close.

Best bet with those is the m80 ballast like the Sunlightsupply Bluewave.
