The daidy, some zoos and my green, all still closed. Starting to peak, but no where near fully.

I would not worry about putting anything in the qt water it could do more harm then good---as long as you have adequate lighting for them you are okay

Actually when I think about it ---what lighting do you have over them--they could be reacting to the difference in it from the hex

I have 2 10,000K 2 actinic t5's That is half what I had in the hex,I have no way to move the other lights, however, it is also closer to the corals then in the hex.

I'm pretty sure that's what it is then---reduce the photoperiod then by half and work it back gradually to full before you leave

I would also monitor the temp in the qt.

What notebooks are you looking at better yet where are you going to purchase the notebook. If you say you want a MAC, cant help you there.....but being an engineer I have my preferences.....lol

You might want to consider a blackberry plan---combine internet, email, gps for the trip, and cell phone all in one package
My son was just using one when we went for coffee this morning--I was impressed

I think he said the package deal was 125 dollars for the blackberry and 60 dollars a month for Telus---but my wife and I pay that for two cell phones with Telus.

I was going to go to Best Buy, I really didn't want a mac, but could maybe be talked into it. I want wireless internet, so I can use this anywhere.

The temp in the qt has been steady at 78* No change at all. the DT, hangs at 78-80.

If your using a glass top you could also layer several pieces of window screen on top and remove a layer as you see results. Saw this idea in one of the t-5 lighting threads.

I am really happy with my new Lenovo laptop. My biggest complaint is the stupid face recognition.

Rae - My Sony Vaio laptop I purchased last year has been great. The only complaint is that I have to uninstall the extra crap that they include from their sponsors.

Concering your QT, I would recommend keeping a close eye on your ammonia levels, if you haven't already done so, I would purchase an ammonia badge. When I had my clowns in the QT, I couldn't keep my ammonia level at 0 and did 20% daily water changes everyday.

So, just back from bestbuy and am talking to you all on my new hp FAB-u-LOUS lap top!!! I hope you all know I spent $1500.00 on you people!!!

So Capn, My daughter want's to know if you if you are on. My husband wants to know if you know how Edward De Vere is? A little tivia for Sunday eve.

Oh great here we go :) I use a macbook and I will not go back to windows for my personal laptop again. I have windows server running on one box and am installing Linux on an old Sun Ultra 5, but I just like to play around. I have had good luck with HPs but I was totally unimpressed with XP and Vista just pushed the nail into the coffin. Windows is a fine OS, but for just plain stupid do the job and no extra fluff needed I love this Mac. Only thing I had to install was Microsoft Office for Mac (for school). Everything else is on it and no real need for antivirus. Plus my mac starts ( and is FULLY ready to use, no crap loading in the background) in 45 seconds ... flat. It has stayed that way for 6 months now with no change. Plus the laptop shuts down in about 15 seconds. :) Well now that I've rambled on and on. What are the plans for a new tank? I got lost somewhere...

I was deciding between a Mac book and a Sony. I chose the Sony because it was smaller and lighter. This happened a few months before Apple release the Mac book air. Go figure.

I am also not happy with Vista - too many prompt screens.

Oh here we go...lol...I agree on Vista, its a "pretty" OS but is quirky, and takes some time to get used to.....once you do you will actually like it a bit. On my personal I dual boot Vista, and Ubuntu (Linux) Work is Linux and XP, personally Apple isnt doing anything special, they are just as backwards as Microsoft, in that they steal code and try to make it their own. Linux is of the people and for the people, yet they take public code and patent it. BAH....as far as speeds dual 2.8 gig processors on linux.....mmmmmm

Yeah Raen he does have a point.....we need pics....and plans....werent we the people building a tank?

I got the cheapest laptop I could, formatted the drive and installed linux on it. :p (Yes. I'm a geek).

For what I want it to do, it's perfect. It connects to the net. It has a spreadsheet programme for me to record my 'fishtank chemistry'. Plays solitaire. What more do I need on a laptop?

Hi Rae, back to the fish! How are they doing in your hex tank? Did you start hypo for the ich or does that need to wait until after your vacation? Did you ever succeed in catching the last two shrimp??? I may have missed a post or two...did you buy a bigger tank?

So as far as the computer, I am not a vista fan either, I have it on my pc, and really don't ever use it. I will only really be using it for photo editing, and internet. I got an air card, and so far have been cruising an the RC with no problem. I hope this does what I need it to. Thanks to all of the "geeks" who helped and gave advice on this purchase. PS....I wish I could be a geek too!:rolleye1:

So the tank build, Tim, I think I am going to check Fl. while we are there. I hope to find something fab when we get there. I am going to check Craigs list there too. Cincinnati doesn't have to offer on aquariums on Craigs list. I have been checking the diy sites for stand builds, and have found a couple that are great.

So, now about the corals, I am concerned about how they all look. They are all still a bit whimpy looking, and closed up. The DT looks great, and I REALLY want to move the corals back to the DT. I know it is too soon, but I am do afraid to leave this week, and have them continue to spiral down. Siggestions?comments (just please be kind).

I missed you all this weekend, my son turned 4, my baby....I am sad. I love to watch these kids grow, and have enjoyed every minute of it, but when you si1ng happy birthday to your "baby" who is now 4......it chokes ya:sad1:

Pictures to follow!~Rae

I still haven't caught those two last shrimp. I have the trap, and the only thing I catch is the clown gobies, and they use it as a nice hideaway. ;) They swim and out.
