Raffles

Just curious what everyone has thought of the raffles?? With Jason Glaspie's recommendation I have gotten a free entrance and banquet fee to IMAC. So look for that at future raffles. I will work on the hotel it is held at to see if there is anyway to get that thrown in too.

What other items would people like to see?

That is super, is it one ticket or two for IMAC? Just curious. I think we should get things for the raffle that people use, bulbs, ballasts, reflectors, maybe even skimmers and powerheads. These companies like to get there products out there, maybe we can set up some type of deal with them to do a review on the donated items. Who ever wins the item has to agree to try it for a few months and write a small deal about its performance and what they thought of it. Lets shoot big, I would be willing to write a few letters to see if we could round up some goodies. Maybe Dan could talk the tunze guy into donating something.....figure Dan has bought one of everything they have come out with....they should like him by now. Just a few thoughts...lets here what people think...Jason

Glaspie I like your Ideas but also look @ supplements, salt, fans, next time Imac has deals like tuffy got on the 5 gallon tank some of them, bags of live sand, starboard, top off floats, testing equipment, ect. ect........ oh and books, videos, magazine subscriptions.
just a few more Ideas.

All VERY good ideas!!!

I'll add a few. Refractometers, tds meters, even gift cert. are always nice then you can pick out what you want.

I like Jasons idea on having to write a review on the product that way everyone can benefit from it! :D

All good ideas, the main thing to keep in mind is to go for items everyone can use, whether you're keeping mostly softies, LPS or SPS etc. Test kits are a great idea, possibly even a handheld pH meter, refractometers etc. Books etc, also a good idea. While not everyone has an RO/DI system, many do, so another possibility would be filter cartridges, TDS meters etc. Keeping the items more universal will lead to more participation in the raffle.

When it comes to things like lighting etc, everyone uses something different, maybe look to get a discount/coupon etc from vendors, that way you get a good deal but can still get the specific item you need.

was at the last raffle and loved the selection. like Glaspie said vendors LOVE to get NEW products out to the public and to get reviews back. I belong to north american fishing club and I have gotten many things to test and keep. I would even be willing to help you try to contact vendors. the best people to get ahold of is research and developement, and promotions. another group to contact is distributers.

I think the raffles are great. I think raffle participation was low due to the frag auction. If it hadn't been a frag auction I probably would have bought some tickets for the raffle.

I love the raffles!!

I feel like I cleaned up on the last one. Sorry I had to leave early, thanks to Billy for collecting the goods. I can't imagine not partisipating, tickets where only a dollar each and the odds had to be way better than lotto. Now my secret is out. It would be amazing if we could get some of the things you guys talked about. Contact all the skimmer manufacturers;)

Thanks,
Kevin

Well, I think I got everything Kevin didn't win in the last raffle :) How about gift cert. to SOM? We support a local business and he has a variety if things. GC to Fosters and Smith would be nice too. How about a bucket of salt? Can never have enough, right?!
