I've been seeing so many varieties of these guys and they are just plain awesome!!! I've also heard some of them them fade and some of them become more colorful in time.... if you guys can post a shot when you first got them and current shot and the lighting they are under, I'll greatly appreciate it...

Thanks... looking forward to some nice eye candy... :)

it has become more and more orange and losing the green ring fast... it's sitting on the sand bed and I re-positioned it to receive indirect light... this is exactly why I posted this thread... I've heard mixed results with these Rainbows.. some have colored up even more and some have lost their vibrant colors... what I've heard also is most of these vibrant Rainbow Aussies are collected in deeper waters... is it true that by having actinics, it will help out with maintaining the color? that would be my problem coz I don't run actinics in my tank.. just straight up 14k Phoenix...

anybody else would like to chime in?

I'll post a pic of mine tomorrow. Mine has actually gotten brighter. But i have it under 250MH 20K
that'll be great... :)

Thanks..

would love to post pics but, I have seen change in almost all of mine. I am currently experimenting with different light. Most if not all so far have done better in the indirect 150 with 96w actinic. Dont really have to many spots for all the colonys in the indirect light. Would love to hearmore on this from others.

I think we as a community that likes and appreciates the new Aussie lords coming in should all experiment and share info on how keep these guys happy and thriving.. keeping the colors vibrant included... I and a few others have already started doing this with different color morphs of Aussies...

I really enjoyed the before and after shots that RandyO posted on that Pink Aussie... I have high hopes that more and more nice pinks are going to show up... I just hope that I can keep the bright Rainbow colors I've been fortunate to acquire..

anyway, sorry for such a long post.. I hope it made sense.. back to regular programming.. ;)

PICS! PICS!! PICS!!!

I can't comment on changes for the worse, but I do think the more blue the more different colors you'll see. I don't think that's anything earth shattering, but I had some pretty blah pieces under PCs and put them under 20Ks and now they're pretty impressive...fwiw

the pinks on this one has really gotten better in my friends tank. Werent as bright pink only week and a half ago. He changed to 250w 20ks and the change is amazing.

These might be the nicest I have seen.

Wow! You guys have some spectacular aussie acans! I just bought 6 frags of my own that should be coming in Tuesday, from Fragglereef.

I'll have to take before and after pics now, after seeing how much these things change.

I just put new T-5s in with the front one being one of the new Sfiligoi actinics. The other bulbs are 10,000k, 12,000k and 14,000k. Can't wait to get them. :)

I haven't had any of mine lose color... I'll try and post some pics in the next couple of days of the few rainbows I have... :) I'll agree with Casey though in that they seem to look a lot more impressive under bluer spectrum high intensity lighting... :D

I was using an XM 20K 250w. I think my colors may have faded due to an old bulb. I just switched it to a Radium 20K 250w. Everything looks brighter under this bulb. I'll post weekly pics of the progress changes.

Here is a pic of some that were moved to the top. Sorry for the bad pic. It was feeding time and I wanted to snap a quick one. :)

I have mine near the top of my tank, but under 196W of PC lighting. When I bought them, they were almost totally bleached out. I've had them about a month and they're a dark red, almost orange, with white stripes, and some purple coming in. So...I'm guessing they do well under my lighting situation :)
