Rainford's Goby

I am thinking of getting a Rainford's Goby (Amblygobius rainfordi) for filamentous algae growing on my frag plugs & rack (see pics 01 & 02). Not a huge problem as once a moth it is easy to remove and has not spread in the tank. To the best of my knowledge most Gobies are bottom feeders. My question is will the Rainford's Goby forage near the top of a 24" high tank? My frags are about 4" from the top of the tank, will the Rainford's Goby wonder 18" above the substrate (see pic 03)to feed?

It's a great fish, a little shy and timid, but a real nice fish. That said, don't expect much difference in your tank. The one I had did eat the stuff but never did appreciable damage to it. I recommend the fish but not for removing this algae.

mine, had a pair and I lost them cause i'm an IDIOT and left the screen off after feeding one night... anyhow... my pair, never went higher than 1" over the sandbed... had them about 1year.... always just hung out at the bottom... side-by-side... i miss them.. :(
