Randall's Pistol Shrimp Question

Hey there, I've started up a new 28g JBJ HQI Nano Cube! It's all cycled and ready for fish. I'm taking down my old tank, and plan on moving my 2 pec clowns and six line to the new tank. Since i finally have the opportunity to add a new fish (without the clown and six line bullying them), I was thinking of adding a yellow watchman goby and a Randalls Pistol Shrimp. I could leave the goby and shrimp alone for a few weeks so that they are acclimated and find a home. I had a few concerns about the pair that i was hoping for some advice/ comments on:

1. I was thinking considering the Randall as i heard it was smallest and least aggressive. Will the Randall's shrimp go after/ eat any think in the tank (clowns/ nassarius snails/ astrea snails/ crabs/ whatever)? Usually feed the tank daily.

2. I understand these guys build massive tunnels (which is cool). My main concern is with them pushing mounds of sand from one side to the other. Will this happens? don't mind some sand shifting, but would love to avoid having one side of my tank with no sand and the other with 6+ inches.

Thanks in advance.

Pistol Shrimp are super cool. I had two in my 90 gallon.

I created a small cave under a stable rock on the sand and released a pair of randalls gobies and a super large pistol.

The shrimp built those fish huge tunnels and never cause any harm to tank mates.

You dont see them to often except when theres food near the cave. Then they will almost ride the gobie for safety reasons out into the open.

Ill post up a few pics here lemme find em :)

cool, thanks for the info.

after doing a bit more reading, i may reconsider adding a goby and shrimp. the reason i'm reconsidering is apparently they will disturb the live sand bed. i know it's a controversial topic, but i'd rather error on the side of caution.

What neat, original pics....Several of us are wanting to add the Red Banded Pistol with Gobies. F&S is offering (when in stock) one, but it is listed as "tiny"...I e-mailed them and they said that it usually goes out from 1/4 to 3/4 inch.....wouldn't 1/4 (if my older eyes could even see it.lol) be too small? And is there a chance of him getting eaten that small?

Ok.....Tomorrow (hopefully),I am getting the Tangarora(?) Goby and red-banded Pistol, and also have 2 High-fin Red Banded Gobies coming when in stock as well as a couple of Pistols. Also, and you will love this snorvich...a bottle of Copepods...but guess what? I had a Black Molly I put in the 20 gallon I have been getting ready, and she acclimated well and now there are about 30 babies for them to eat !!! Will that be OK??? I guess they will live long enough...I have heard that it was impossible to acclimate Black Mollies to SW, but here it is.

Looks like some fun ahead.

their shouldn't be a problem with it hunting your inverts( had an irate shrmp attack intruding nassarius snail and hermits before, never a known death, but funny to watch the small nassarious flip over in surprise.(*** was that, lol)

as long as you feed properly they should be fine.

ps, snapper shrimp are THE coolest critters ever, not an oppinion, that is absolute fact.

I agree...posted on Reef Fish but this IS an invert .lol..Got them today....Tangaroa/Red Banded Pistol...too funny....he is barely 1/2 inch long...was touching the Goby in the acclimation bucket and climbed on his back. They are in their 20 gallon now with the Black Molly and her babies....problem being...the Pistol can't eat the Molly fry because they are as big as he is..lol. I put a bottle of Copepods in there though. The Goby has already taken a target given piece of Krill...he is so sweet and peaceful. There have to be 25-30 fry....wonder how big they will get? Supposed to get the other 2 High Fin Red Banded Gobies and 2 more Pistols next week...hopefully some of the gobies will eat the fry. I can't wait until they get big enough to "hear" them snap. I miss my Tiger Pistol I used to have. Never saw him though.
