Randy`s Two Part

I got the Dow Flake at Pinch a Penny (on university), the big tub of baking soda at Sams Club and the Epsom's salt at CVS.

To easy.

I have been using it for a month now and I just tested the water the #s are:
Ca 470
Alk 4.4
Mg 1425

I have been adding about 60ml per day of the 2 part and about a gal of kalk a week in a 65gal, the coraline is taking off like a rocket.:)

Hey thanks Greg thought I was going to have to go to Tampa but that would mean I `d have to stop at Johns. Can`t believe I can get the mix local.
Thanks again
Rick

Rick call the Pinch a Penny first to make sure they have it. I had to call a few before I found it, the one on University and the one on Manatee both carry it.

Picked up flake at p&p on manatee. Did not have Dow brand so bought suncoast calicum hardness increaser. Hope this is the same stuff ingredients 77% calicum 23% inert

How much was the DOW Flake? I'm thinking of mixing some of this stuff up, but with a 20g tank 50lbs of flake seems like a lot. It may be more cost effective for me to by a commercial two part additive and not have to sit on a ton of raw materials.
Thanks

Nathan
Think i paid 26 & change so when you dose for a 180 it made more sense to with Randys brew. I paid 26.00 for Ocean blend at Jeffs pet. Saw ESV for 39.00 gal at new store in Sarasota on Hillview. Anyway the stuff is working great water chem. are right on the money.

Ok there has been a few inquiries about small batches of the 2 part, so seeing as how I have a few years worth of it on hand Ill offer it up.

Ill do the and baking so all you have to do is measure it out and add RO.

This is over a years worth of 2 part for less than 1/2 the price of 1 gallon of the name brands.

The guy from MJ Mods is selling the same for a little more plus over $8.00 S&H

16 Cups of Dow Flake Calcium Chloride. This Is enough to make over 6 gallons of recipe one and 12 gallons of recipe two Calcium Solution $10.00

8 Cups of Dow Flake Calcium Chloride. This Is enough to make over 3 gallons of recipe one and 6 gallons of recipe two Calcium Solution $5.00

16 cups of Sodium Bicarbonate (Arm and Hammer Baking soda), this is enough to make 7 gallons of recipe 1 and 14 gallons of recipe 2. $5.00.

8 cups of Sodium Bicarbonate (Arm and Hammer Baking soda), this is enough to make over 3 gallons of recipe 1 and 7 gallons of recipe 2. $2.50

I believe the main worry between the brands is the ammonia content. Randy has tested Dow and found it to be safe to use : )

Thanks Snarkys,

Thats why I spent a little more time searching out the Dow flake.

Have you approached Randy a bout using reference to him in the sale of your 2 part?

Greg I will take 16 cups of Dow flake. Is the meeting good for you? If so I'll be there with money in hand. On another note, I have 50 lbs of calcium hydroxide and really dont use more than 10 lbs a year, so if anyone needs any let me know, and I will make baggies and bring to meeting. steve

Baggies of white powder sold at a reefers meeting :eek1: .

"Honest officer, it's for deicing my driveway."

I dont think anybody would like to put calcium chloride or especially calcium hydroxide up their nose! OUCH! Maybe we should label it.
