Randy's Oyster Feast

Oyster-Feast is a mix of both oyster ovarian tissue and oyster eggs which allows the mix to have a large particle range then just oyster eggs. It ranges from 1 - 200 micron size. Oyster eggs themselves are about 40- 50 microns.

There are a lot more people at Reed then just Randy :)

Any place reef nutrition is sold for the most part. It is still in the early production phase, so the bottle size is limited.

How long will a 6 oz bottle last me if I'm using it for a 225 gallon tank with a lot of SPS and some LPS? Is it recommended to use it along with Roti-feast? Would I still need to dose Amino Acids since Roti-feast has Aminos?

The first bottle will last you longer as we recommend knocking down the dose to half of "recommended dose" for the first couple weeks. It's hard to say with out knowing how much you currently feed to your tank but you'd probably get close to 2 months out of a 6oz if you fed it with Roti-Feast. I'd still use RF since you have LPS but just less of it.

Directions on most coral feeds should merely be taken as guidelines with the user being the ultimate judge of what is working or not. With such a diverse amount of bio-life that could be, or not, in a tank makes it pretty hard to make a set dose per gallon recommendation that would cover every tank.

If your having success with Aminos I'd probably still use them but in smaller quantities. I personally hate changing something that is working. It always seems when I change a good thing in my tank it usually doesn't turn out so well :D

Oyster-Feast will temporarily knock down you skimmate head so IMO there is no need to turn the skimmer off. That is rather hard on the impeller when you turn it back on.

If the majority of your corals respond better at night to feedings, then night is best for you :) Mine respond when ever I feed so I've found in my situation I don't need to worry about feeding after lights out. In the wild that's when most feed, and day they stay closed, but that also has to do with predation which they really don't have to worry about in most our reefs :)

I was lucky enough to get one of the first bottles when Randy came to speak at our reef club in October. My corals have responded well to this product. Polyps and tentacles start coming out immediately. I've recently rebuilt my system going BB, adding Lumen Brights, a Deltec skimmer and calcium reactor. I didn't add fish for two months and have been feeding Oyster Feast, cyclopeeze, and a homemade "gumbo" and my corals are showing great color and growth unlike anything previously.
