Rare Angel Needs Your Help!! Red Pimple

I have a male Swallow angel in QT right now.

He eats like a pig.

Last week I noticed a red spot on one of his scales. I watched it closely. Within a day it had swollen up and turned into what looked like a pimple.

I treated with mayacin2 for 5 days. No positive changes.

I am finishing the second 5 day treatment this time with mayacin and mayacin2. No positive changes.


This morning I noticed a red patch on his tail fin. Tonight it looks like a small pimple.


Please help, I cant get a PIC with my cell cam. If nobody can point me in a direction I will go buy a real cam tomorrow.

Went and baught a camera.

He is in a 55G QT.

Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate read zero.

Salinity 1.009 (in hypo)

Has nori available 8 hours a day to graze. I feed mysis, plankton, and every flake known to man.

My juvi clown got a pimple. now i cant really say if it started red, its a maroon clown, but it looked like a white head zit! I know a marine biologist/ickoligist (sp)and i was told to treat for internal parasites. (prazqutel, or maraxdrol) spellings wrong on the second one. they sell this stuff from gel tek, its orange and has both ingrdients. its impossible to treat how the bottle says, so soak its food in it. it made my maroons zit go away.

I actually have this stuff inf the fridge and have used it before with some success.

Some fish don't like the taste of prazi soaked food, if he spits it out, you can gut load live brine (pm me if you need instructions on how to)

I'm told a retreatment should be done in about 6 weeks

How is the fish otherwise? Is it eating and behaving normal? I am thinking it could be Lymphocystis. It a viral disease that produces white or pink lumps. No cure, it will run its course and go away on its own.
It is very common for new fish to have a break out of Lympocystis...and it is VERY common in Angels.
If your Angel is otherwise doing okay, I wouldn't treat it. Get some VitaChem and Selcon to soak its food in

An Update.

TOURKID - thank you for your recomendation. I tried to feed like the directions stated and you wouldnt guess it but he was the only fish to go for it. Within 10 minutes very very very stringy poo came out.........

He is now swimming around pimple free. Still has a red spot but it looks to be healing.

Angel*Fish - thanks for the comments, he is a very beutiful angel. It is no wonder they are so hard to get. He thanks you =]. The bottle says to treat 2 times daily for 3 days. After the second treatment no fish pooped out string(it was minor the second treatment).

BTTRFLYGRL - He is very active, rarely hides, and never waits for the food to sink. He did get lympho as did his lady friend when they were first introduced into the tank. Hypo is for ich or now lack there of. The water is now at 1.017 and going up daily. He will be in the reef within a few days.
