Rare clownfish experiences

Ok....had a chat with the Latz and asked him to slow down and turn sideways - he kinda cooperated (would probably help if I was a better photographer and cleaned the tank glass) - but at least you can see the middle stripe better!

I have a question about A. fuscocaudatus. Any info you have is appreciated. My second and probable choice would be a pair of Allard's Clowns.

Ed,

I have never seen fuscos for sale here. I like allardi, they are one of my favorite.

Cheers :)

I am not very happy to tell you this. I hope you didn't pay big money for him, because that is a black saddleback clown (A. polymnus). The third stripe on its tail is not common, but not unusual either. If it were a juvi latezonatus, it would have orange on the tail and it would be deeper in body.
Juvi Latz showing tail: (sorry, can't link to the image, only the site)

A. fuscocaudatus are my favorite as well, however you are likely to never see them for sale. The Seychelle islands are a world wildlife sanctuary and that is the only place they are found. That and the nearest collecting station is hundreds of miles away, make it very unlikely we will ever be able to get one.

Well crap! He looked exactly like the pic of a Latz juvi I spotted on the Net. No wonder that website pulled down the pic right after I bought them - that is 2 of out 2 for that place (will post those particular comments in the Vendor Experience section). I pulled up some of the saddleback juvi pics posted on here and yep, he looks just like all of those. At least it will be easier to find him a replacement tankmate. (Luckily I didn't pay an outrageous price for him)

......now off to send blasting e-mails to the vendor!

One of my LFS just pulled a pair of Allardi out of QT today and they look real healthy. Unfortunetly I already ordered a pair of Blue stripes from liveaquaria.

Thanks for the info; Phil that's a bummer, hopefully one day someone will get a breeding pair into the hobby.

More than likely it will be the Allard's I choose. I have a 58RR that will be reefscaped with Marshal Island and Tonga Branch, a nice large RBTA and a GBTA with a few choice corals to fill in some gaps. I don't plan on many tankmates other than inverts, but I will add a couple of smaller fish specimens.
