RARE TO YOU Frag Swap

wondering if potentially we keep to 1/2" by 1/2" min. for 'plate' coral frags (encrusting, plating, chalice, etc.) and 3/4" min. for 'stag' coral frags if this would help as it seems alot of people are concerned about being able to make two frags.. or would this be too small for stability of frags?
Really depends on the person's coral/system. And can depend on how long ago the frags were made.

I've rescued accidental frags and chips that were about 1/8" tall.

One of the Candlelights(not the ones for the swap) is barely 3/16" tall right now and the base has encrusted to 1/4" diameter.

I have various encrusting montis that started out small like that and have encrusted and put out new growth.

Smaller can be ok if the person knows that the frag has stabilized and has been putting out new growth. I've seen fresh cut 1x1 pieces go downhill too.

Yes but why are Mike's Underoos all red and blue? I hope he's ok :)

What, you don't remember the spiderman underoos ?!?!?! They were the most popular ones that I recalled growing up :D

Good point Mr. Ugly.

However, why take the chance? I don't think it is worth reducing standards to the point where the frags are much less likely to make it. Especially since, regardless of size, we're going to have 20 people there and less stable frags undermine many of the reasons for doing this.

Actually it was a play on Superman, that everyone seems to call anything red and blue nowadays :)

I have to agree with what is said, not to mention, if you can't make two frags of the sizes that are mentioned then you probably shouldn't be fragging it in the first place, wait for it to encrust and grow in, and you should have a nice sized amount in a year that's more than ready for fragging.

Oooh I am wet :D

Even though it's technically.. whet your appetite ;)

Really? whet, eh? Cool and oooppss...I love it when I learn something like this. Thank you for being so kind about it. I sometimes get grief from people on this board when I make a mistake like that because I am a teacher.

'tis alright I blame a physics teacher I had many years ago who was British, and man she loved to nit pick little things like this, and unfortunately(fortunately?) some of it stuck, although I probably did benefit from it.

Alright, looks like the pink lemonade is going to elude me this time round. Feel free to drop to my next choice(s) which seems like a very nice Bali Tricolor, and let the man post his wish list :)

Superman's costume also had yellow. So technically, all those Superman corals are misnamed :)

Spiderman would be more appropriate.

Now if Mike's underoos have yellow also....

:)

So there's no PL out there (for the time being)

Just a reminder... You must be able to bring 2 frags of the requested coral and 1 other equivalent frag.

Here's the current list:

1. Fire Engine Monti (cwolfus <- Otterpop510)
2. Karl's Candelight Acro (Otterpop510 <- Mr. Ugly)
3. Dinosaur Egg (lineaged to Matt) (Mr. Ugly <- Xinumaster)
4. Oregon tort (Xinumaster <- Budgetyourself)
5. Mike's underoos favia (Budgetyourself <- sfsuphysics)
6. Tyree Bali Tricolor (sfsuphysics <- Slojmn)

Hey Slojmn, what's next? ;)

Looks like I am up next..In order of most desired here are a couple to pick from.
1. LE Grafted Simplex...you know, the green and purple one
2. Tyree Auctioned Edition Peace Coral, I believe this is different from the Limited Edition Peace Coral...It is also found at Reefready.net
3. LE Lime in the Sky Acro
4. LE 500 dollar efflo
5. Jeremy's Red Aurora chalice, Picture on reefready.net site.
6. JenDub Pink Lightning Acan...I lost my piece :(

Let's start with that and see where it goes :D.

agree with the others regarding frag size, it makes sense in terms of coral stability, frag stress, etc.

and no need for the red/blue and yellow!? underoos.. now thats a not so nice image in my head.. (going to backspace over to slojmn's amazing bali tricolor pic to clear my head.. ) :D

Sorry, Norman I have to take out the dinosaur egg from the list. It is just too small to frag right now. Color started to brown out too.

I've got a PM to Perry to figure out the next steps in the meanwhile lets keep going. Slojmn is up with a request list that includes:

6. JenDub Pink Lightning Acan...I lost my piece

Cheers!

Alicia- I sent an PM to someone who could fill you lime in the sky order. I have the 500 efflo, but would not be able to get two frags by then. Sorry.

Pam- It was nice to finally meet you yesterday at YR.

Since this is Easter and many are spending the day with family, I'm giving Slojmn the option to have her request stand a bit longer than the usual 24hrs.

Slojmn - If you don't get a response by noon Monday, please request others. Of course, you are free to change anytime sooner if you choose.

-Charles
