Just got done organizing setting up my first pass at the rock scape for my new 120, does anyone think having a "cove" like this will be a problem with flow?

Thanks!!

I like it but think you might want a couple caves that fish can swim thru. It looks like you have one on the right but something larger might be better when considering the fish you intend to purchase full grown. Also depending on which fish you get of course.

I agree, I would keep the overall L shape of the left hand side formation, but open up more caves in it and give it a little more vertical height. You want to keep the rocks at least 4" off the left and right hand sides of the tank for cleaning the glass.

i also like caves but one thing i do appreciate about your scape is the use of off-center features. i like the non-symmetrical look you're onto.
here's mine:

i found advice here somewhere that suggested dividing the tank into 6 squares and i applied that to each side to create what i have now. if i were to do it again it would be similar but i would have paid more attention to creating shelves for corals.

that's all you have in mind for a 120?
i'm always playing with the idea of getting a tub of rock curing but it would only serve to add to my zoa garden or to add a raised position. all in all there is about about 95lbs of pukani there.
my tank's scape is arranged for swimming room, spots for acropora to grow and a large area of substrate with consideration to the kinds of fish i keep as well.
this is how it looks 5 months later:

there is 7 or 8 recently bought 1" acro frags in there you can barely see on the rocks as well.

Wow is that a treatment or something for the paint on the back wall? Looks like clouds in the picture, was that intentional? And, did you paint your overflow? Everything really looks awesome

the backround is a vinyl wrap basically but the tank wasn't built by me. my lfs uses a custom tank builder that i think did a great job with the glass and wrap.
i use an aquamaxx q2 and while it skims really great it's currently causing me grief with a leaking issue. i might have it fixed now but we'll see.

I really like your scape Johnny. You mentioned shelves for corals, ever look into those dry rocks with magnets that can go onto the rear wall (or any wall)? I have one and it looks great!

What he said.

i've never seen them, interesting!
next will likely be a frag rack for the rear corner as some of these zoas are getting there.

Hmmm vinyl wrap...that's a fairly unique idea...
