rate my tank 1-10

No, they are a good hitchhiker. They are nocturnal so you will probably only see them at night.
I have some in my tank that stand on end, and spray eggs into the water column. Great coral food.

cool beans

I agree with the background thing but I would not bother with paint, simply get poster board or equivalent in case you want to change colors. I prefer black but many like blue. I love your aquascaping. So, all in all, if you remove the sailfin, and put a background up, I give it an 8+-9 Oh yeah, that dude has to go.

hey try this.. I am going to maybe tint my tank with 4% and do it over again to make it 2% or so... that should cover it nice and you can take it off later if you want.

Yeah and you are going to take it off later too.. but for those who clean the back of the tank and want a dark back without painting it... as paint does not like to come off.. :p that tint idea is mint.

lol

i agree it is a good idea!

For my background I used black foam-board from Wal-Mart, it's almost 1/4" thick, cut it with a razor blade, slide it in between the glass and the cords, and it stands up on it's own. Replace it when it gets salty for $5.

not to shoot that down but 5 bucks 5 bucks 5 bucks... adds up...

Nice tank, and rock structuring. But I do agree the dark background is a must and the dude needs to get out of the picture.

What kind of camera did you use to take the pictures? other than the first one the rest are great!

I agree to ditch the sailfin.

Rockwork looks nice. I would move that piece of branch rock all the way to the right that has nothing on it. It looks like you finished aqua-scaping and had 1 piece left and didn't know what to do with it lol. Toss is in the sump when it's set up. Aqua-scaping a 55 is a challenge b/c they are so damn narrow.

Get that sump hooked up and upgrade your skimmer if you plan to put any decent amount of fish in that tank.

I used black limo tint sold at walmart for the back of my tank. Though I'm sure construction paper would work fine. Seeing cords really detracts from the overall look.

I give you a 5 for now. Let's see some pictures once everything is up and running with the sump.

Black tint is a good idea. Construction paper though... that would get wet and look like sht pretty fast.

but again, how do you keep the sand so white?

I rate it a 1.

Reason : I don't like looking at shirtless dudes when I'm scoping out a Fish tank

:D
