thanks, why dump the sailfin? what more can i add for coarls and fish? what would be a good replacement... the onily reason i got the sailfin is it was one of the most healthy fish in the lfs... i have horrable luck with fish..

and the sand... nasarious snails.. they stir it up nice :D

I too was prepared to give it a 10 on water clarity, cleanliness and reef design until I saw the sailfin tang
So I have to knock down my rating due to husbandry issues to an 8 LOL

Seriously it is an excellent tank but that sailfin is a fast growing tang that should be a tank 3 times the size you have--not because your filtration can't handle it but more for the swimming room that is required for their optimum health

I'll give it a 10 if you put some kind of background on the back of the tank, blue or black.

I just hate the look of equipment personally.

Your tank will probably look awesome in several months when everything starts to fill in and coralline takes off.

Keep it up!

well guess its time to transplant him to the 180 :) gives me a good reason to get my lazy butt in gear and get it setup :)

and LJA thank you...

thanks for all the replays so far:D

I second the motion to paint the back of the tank. I'd give you a "7" given the stage of development you're at, keeping in mind that the "9s" and "10s" are pretty hard to come by. Good job so far.

is there any special paint i should use to do this? and any ideas on how to paint the back the tank is built into a wall and cannot be removed unless its empty and took all the way down... :( poor planning on my part i guess

Try construction paper or foil or something more temporary on the back until the coraline grows in. THen you won't have to tear it down to paint.

It looks so clean and uncluttered! Sometimes I wish I'd started from empty rather than acquiring a complete and crowded tank.

Easy fish are royal grammas and pajama cardinals. The cardinals aren't that entertaining other than stipes and spots together. The grammas have personality and bright color. They interact with people looking back at them.

Very nice! A "9" from me!

I just cut a piece of 1/8" plywood the length of the glass and wide enough to wedge between the tanks upper and lower frames snugly, and then painted it with a black oil based paint for resilency. It looks good and it resists damage from the saltwater

I actually went to CVS and bought a blue poster board, cut it to size, and placed it behind my tank.

It looks perfect and cost me $1.05 and 10minutes of my time.

good idea all the ideas were great with out painting the tank thank you

out... thank you for the sugestion on fish also!

just get that high gloss black background in back there and it would be sweet. you will be surprised how much it makes the colors pop. much better investment than a coral. it is definitely on its way, keep up the good work. I am not much of a fan of corals, they don't do much but site there, get more fish!

9 on photography , would have been a 10 but somebody jumped in front of the camera.

How old is the tank? if new then big score, if old then big score.

Probably stomatella snails. A good hitchhiker.

they look like they have a softer shell than the normal snails.. i havnt added anything new to the tank so i dunno where they would have come from....

That's see if this works.
If it is a stomatella it came in with your LR, and will reproduce in a mature tank.
The tank looks great. Keep up the good work, and get the tang out. :)
