RAW seems to be showing imbedded JPEG in LR

When I import a RAW image, it looks decent. It should good gray and ugly, right?

If I export the image from RAW to JPEG with pp, the picture looks much more dull than the image shown in LR!

Even when I process the RAW image in LR the exported JPEG still looks nothing like what I am viewing in LR. Nice purples turn into dull blues, for example.

What is happening and how can I fix this?

You are probably importing the image as Adobe RGB. While this is great for printing pictures, it isn't so great for viewing from a monitor. If you change the format to sRGB you should be okay.

How do I change this setting?

This sounds like it could be the problem. It is either this or having to do with export settings (I have tried every single one). Still, the export images looks more like an original RAW and what I see in LR looks more like the JPEG I am seeing on the back of my camera.

Also, I am using a Nikon so I have NEF files. Does this matter?
