Monday Todd? Itay - if he comes out before that surly you'll update us before that!

Well, you see little lady, when he said have a good weekend I assumed that he wasn't going to be around, so there. :p :)

HAHA ! I love this forum.

I come in, and I'm already causing trouble

I will be around this weekend... most of my posts are on my build thread on the Large Reef Tanks forum, but now that I have an anemone (though hidden) and a pair of clowns I can post here too!

Here are the lonely, looking for a place to host, beautiful clowns.

Kim just needs to be put in her place once in a while. ;) ;)

Wow, those are great looking clowns. Mights me regret selling mine.

 Todd...

Itay I was watching those two for a little while about an hour ago on your webcam... they were wandering around in the upper left corner of the tank.

I wish I had a camera like that on my tanks!

They are still up on that corner. They must like the dining room furniture... since that's where they keep looking.

Is that behavior normal? I haven't seen anemone-less clowns in a big tank before. What should they be doing?

Oh - I love having the camera there. My wife wishes I'd find a better way to set it up, other than standing on a stool, but we'll get there :D

OH that's funny! The camera is just hanging out on a stool... well it works!

Yes - that's normal clown behavior... It might take them some time to find the anemone once it's out anyway. Sometimes feeding the tank directly into or over the anemone can help at least get them in the vicinity of the anemone.

Just looked,

Seems like all the fish like that corner. Is the TV on? ;)

But, think that Kim is right, that does seem normal. (( Have only had clowns w/o an anemone for a couple of weeks, and they stayed where the anemone used to be. ))

Oh they are all in that corner! I wonder what my fish do all day while I'm gone???

I just watched one of the clowns venture off up to the top and center - then come back.. so cute!

Haha! If you've looked since then you would have seen that they still hardly leave that corner.

Having the camera is great, but its quite an addiction. If I'm upstairs in the house, I have it up on my laptop or desktop, if I'm out or friends houses I take a peek if there is a computer/internet available, and at the office its up aaaaaaall day :)

I feel bad, because every time I try to feed them pellets they are too slow to react and the rabbit fish gets in the way and takes all their food :(

I've even tried to throw some pellets in at one end of the tank to get him away and feed the clowns 'quietly' but he always gets in the way. They are definitely hungry and interested and grab a pellet here and there, but not as much as I'd want them to...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.!

Hello -

Wanted to send an update... the RBTA actually managed to get even deeper into the live rock, so I think it will come to trying to extract it eventually. I will give it a few more days, to see it decides to come out, but not sure what to think.

Any way to lure it out? Has anyone ever done that?

As far as the clowns, they are doing well, though I'm still struggling to feed them. They chase the pellets, but not far and end up missing most. I tried some chopped shrimp and they got all excited, but again, when pieces pass them by they don't seem to chase them far.

I'm looking for recommendations on what/how to feed them.

Thanks!

Hey Itay - sorry to hear the RBTA is further in the rock... I don't think you'd be able to lure it out - but hey maybe someone will have an idea for you. I'm afraid it might come to you having to move some of the rock...

My clowns love Rod's Food... does your LFS have that?

hmm... not sure. I'll have to check. I don't think the issue is lack of interest, or not liking the food, I just think they don't "go for it"... I'll check.

Wanted to post my fav pic of one of the clowns so far:

I love that pic!

Itay - how is it going - did the RBTA come out or did you have to move any of the rocks? How are the clowns eating?

Hey Kimsie - RBTA is still hiding. I think it may be getting ready to move again, though, because it became a bit more visible in the hiding spot and then moved back and forth a bit. So I'm hoping I will walk up to the tank in a few days and see it out. Wishful thinking!! We'll see how it goes.

I figure its much less stressful for it if I just let it be than try to extract it. I've been squirting mysis shrimp towards where it is.

The clowns are doing ok. They aren't the brightest when it comes to going after food. I even turn off the closed loop when feeding and they just wonder around grabbing a bite here and there, but not really getting as much as they want (that's my guess).

I'm feeding pellets and mysis and they also nip at nori sheets on occasion.

Now the cutest thing is that they have a new friend. A tiny pacific blue tang. It must think its a clown. The three hang out together all day and I could swear the tang is swimming like a clown fish!

PEEK-A-BOO!

Hello -

Thought I'd post an update on my RBTA.

Got home from work today and noticed it peeking out of its hole:

Hoping it will continue on its path and come out to play!!!

My clowns are ever-so-lonely! (If it weren't for the hippo tang)

Best,

Hello All,

Been a couple of weeks, and I'm happy to say that upon my return from a trip I found the anemone farther out than I've ever seen it. Its still not all the way out, but its as far as its come thus far. Hoping for it to find a place it likes and settle so my clowns can find it!

Here it is now

Also my clowns are doing great. They have grown quite a bit and have also started to display signs of 'the mating dance'.

Its funny to see the hippo tang playing 'me too' :)

Well guys,

After letting the RBTA do its thing for a little over 6 weeks I decided it was time for me to take action. It ended up picking a spot facing the back of the tank, with little light and little water movement. I could see it by leaning over the tank and over a rock...

This past Thursday I bit the bullet and moved some of the live rock pieces around and turned the one where the RBTA had decided to stay.

It's been over 60 hours and I've been spot feeding it mysis shrimp with a turkey baster and it seems to be doing very well. It may be wishful thinking, but I think its color is already deeper and it seems to be extending more than before.

I hope it stays put, and I hope the clowns finally discover it!

Here it is now:

Best,

The anemone continues to do well.

I had a minor coronary when I saw it 'deflated and defecating'. I had no idea this was normal and almost freaked out when I came home and found it like this:

anem2.jpg

But I did my research and calmed down when I read that that's how they do their business and also its how they refresh the water in them. By the end time I went to bed it was a tiny shriveled thing.

The next day it was back to looking normal and eating like a pig! Here it is taking in a piece of scallop!

(P.S. I know the piece of scallop is too big - I give it smaller pieces normally, this one was a 'bad cut' - LOL)
