rbt bubbles

When I first bought mine it was all bubbly, then 5-6 weeks later it split, then no more bubbles, then 2-3 weeks later it split again, and then recently again. Moved the tank 400 miles away, switch from 2x250w mh + 260w actinc, to 4x54 t5 with ati aquablues and blue+, now its all bubbly again, what is it that makes them do such odd behavior?

It's not a very satisfying answer, but no one knows why they gain or lose the bubbles. It is not an indicator of health though, so don't worry about it.
