Im working on growing and splitting anemones in a basket farm for now. I started with 1 a year ago. Then they split 6 months later and after 3 months split again. I started the basket after that and now in around 4 months time I went from 2 to seven. And have since added a green BTA too. There arnt 7 in this picture they have split since the picture.

See how many I can get within the next year for now. Right now there growing to about 3-4 inches before I stress them to split and thats about once a month. Theres a very high demand for these around here so Ill probably sell them off.

I feed them silver sides right now. Im open to other options if i find some but silversides work well. To stress them I do a really good water change and then lift all there foots up and move them around the tank

that is one AWESOME idea. they have nowhere to go and certainly no powerheads, yet flow still going through....... would love to see more pics of your setup.

thanks for sharing.

For now its just a small basket hanging in a 29 gallon tank. For size reference the big one in the pic is about 6 in. But i need to get a bigger one since i have 7 in it now and also added a mini carpet anemone.

Thats a really good idea, and I'm sure someone could piggy back there system with just a tub and really good flow, thats awesome could we get a FTS of the whole thing

Ok here is one. The tank is really embarrasing. Its over run with aptasia. All it has is softies but the water quality is great for growing the anemones.

you should not be embarrassed by your tank at all!

it looks great, i like the look of a clean softie tank, and if you add a black backround to your tank it would help a lot IMO.

good job with the anemones.

very nice idea...

where did you buy that black plastic mesh?

do you have any flow directed at the basket?

what lighting are you running?

I bought the plastic mesh for around 25 cents at hobby lobby.
I have the Power Head directed at the basket.
I run a 250W 10K Metal Halide

Is the powerhead pictured beneath/behind the basket the one you're referring to? Just curious.
I'm picking up three additional RBTAs tonight from the same source as my other captive cloned ones I have now. I'm considering just keeping them in the same glass tank they'll be quarrantined in with no decor so they're easy to collect for propagation. My only debate is whether I will want to tie them into the main system or leave it as a stand alone tank....

Thats the skimmer pump. No the powerhead im talking about is the one on the left side of the photo. It gives more than enough flow for the anemones. This tank isnt my main system. I had wanted to tie them into my main system but didnt have room to do so so I put them in my 29. The 29 has been running 8 months longer than my main system so it was well established.
