RBTA Behavior

SPARTAN VI

New member
My RBTA was about 4" when I first purchased him roughly a month ago, now he's about 7" and rapidly taking up space. This past week I was hoping to encourage a split and hand off the clone to a fellow SCNRS member, so I fed it a full silverside twice in a 3 day span, then on the 4th day I performed a 10% water change.

Here are some before and after pictures:

Last night (day 12) it was floating around the tank inflated and all. It was monsterous! Got a good look at it's foot and snapped some pictures.. looks like a definite split in its column so far.

Woke up this morning and found em floating around again. Has this happened to anyone else? Floating anemone before a split?

They split by pulling themselves apart at the mouth. I've never had one float around before splitting.

Strange. I've seen picture of one other user's BTA before it had split and it had it's foot on two seperate ledges of rock. Wondered if mine was attempting to do the same.

Hope it's still not floating around though. Imagine a 7" RBTA floating around a tiny 24 gallon terrorizing my fish.
