RBTA Flurescent Pink Shipping Water?

I just had two Rbta anemone's fedexed to me. The shipping water is hot pink. Why would that be? It is the same color as the anemones. Is it at all possible for an anemone to spill their color? I'm not talking about brown zooxanthellae.

That is kind of what I was wondering, UUHhg. I got them from a guy on ebay. He has 100% positive feedback. I thought they were grown in his tank and he was just a hobbiest.

So there is no other reason other than that they may have been dyed for the water to be pink? How long before the color would fade if they were dyed so I could know for sure?
 
There are a bunch of expert guys here that may have another reason but the times that I saw it before it was from ones that had been dyed these weird colors mainly on Sebae ones.
There could be another reason on a RBTA but I`m not sure.....
 
I just want to be sure there is no other possible reason. I will write to him. Then for sure I'll have to give him negative feedback so this does not happen to anyone else.

There is no water additive or anything that would be that color that anyone can think of? Has anyone else mail ordered a rose? What color was the water?
 
I've seen additives that turn the water greenish blue, but not hot pink. Maybe they came out with a new product, but I doubt it. Can you post a pic of the anemone? We should be able to tell if it has been dyed.

I hope this works, its only the second time I've posted a pic.

The anemone is not very happy yet and is still shrunken. It's only been in my tank a couple of hours after being in a tiny bag for over 28 hours.
 
Im no RBTA expert but I have owned many diff roses and seen alot more in fellow reefers tanks ... theres something dont look rite with that nem ...could be wrong ...but none of my RBTAs never have given me pink water before .....
 
Hmmm...maybe it's just because the thought that it may have been dyed is stuck in my head now, but I swear it almost looks like the anemone was 'dipped' into a dye since only the ends are shocking pink. I don't suppose there are any bright pink spots on areas other than the ends that look like where dye may have dripped?

I'm sure it's an RBTA, I wonder though if it was dipped into dye to make it look more intense for photo purposes.

Bear in mind that I have no experience with dyed anemones whatsoever.
 
I've never seen an RBTA with THAT pink and fluorescent of a color before. I've always seen them with a more solid red or red-orange color...

I'm no expert, but...

It looks died to me. :(
 
They look normal to me. A dyed anemone would have die on the foot and the whole anemone. The dyes are not opaque so it is necessary to bleach out the anemone first. That looks like a healthy BTA acclimating to a new tank.
 
Thanks all for your responses. Flighty, that is really good to hear,
the guy I bought them from seemed nice, and I didn't want to have to leave him neg feedback. It is still really weird about the water though.

Anyone else have any idea?

Dyed.

If it really is as pink as your picture (I have a suspicion that it is more pink than that picture), then I'd say they craftily dyed that sucker.

Take a look at the tentacles up close, and get a photo of them if you can. I think in most RBTA's, they show a streak-ish look in their tentacles (could be wrong). Do they look solid pink? Throw up a picture if you can get a decent one of just the tentacles.

GL, but I think your water column is going to go "barbie"....

Thanks guys. Here they both are today hiding in the same cave.
Elegance, it did look like the color of that slightly bleached on in the link. Today they are a much better color I think.
 
Those don't look like a dye job to me. Usually if they are dyed their foot is the same color too. You have beautiful rose bta's, you must be proud. :)
 
Thanks Christina, Yes I am very happy about having them.
I just wrote to the guy and asked if he knew why the shipping water was hot pink. I'll see if he writes back. I'll leave him positive feedback though either way, and the water will just have to remain a mystery.

Why in the world would you leave positive either way? If this guy lied to you he is lying to others as well. You should not be "nice" to someone who knowingly takes advantage.

Just my 2¢. I hope you got what you paid for and it's a moot point. It's a cool, wild color if real. Enjoy it either way.
