re-consider your post... the gigantea is "winning"? Do you suspect something possibly might be wrong?
Shed nematocysts would be the weapon of choice here... not allelopathy.

Yeah I think the rbta is somewhat stressed with the gigantea being in the same tank. The gigantea is not moving at all and doing well while the rbta have to hide in the back of the tank. I'm going to try to feed it tonight to see what happens.

Did you change up the flow at all in the tank when you got the carpet?

Could the carpet itself be influencing the flow at all? You'd be surprised how a subtle change in the aquascaping and so on, can change the dynamics.

I originally missed that you mentioned that the RBTA is only at 1 month. One possibility is it could just still be adjusting to life in captivity. In my opinion these things sometimes can take months to really settle out. It could be finding the right spot still(flow and light), it could just be that its hungry.

Just make sure for now that pump intakes are well covered or very difficult to get to from the rockwork, that sort of thing.

Hey delphinus,

What's funny is the rbta actually got sucked into my koralia once already. I came home one night and the tank was cloudy and about 1/4 of the rbta was missing with tentacles lying everywhere. Luckily it happened not too long before I got home so I did a quick change of water and things were ok. But for sure the rbta could be still trying to find the perfect spot in my tank. However while it has been moving around it has never moved to the back of the tank under the shade,and that is why I believe the carpet has something to do with it.

I think as long as both anemones look healthy I'll keep them in the same tank. I'm ok with them moving around for now since my tank is not too full of corals yet.

how big is the BTA??

how often are you feeding?

does he look normal?

mine will usually move to the back of the tank to split but occasionally they will split on the front glass for me

that's actually what I thought too...that he might be back there to split since he's stressed. He's about 8 inches expanded and I've been feeding him every other day or so for the last month. He looks very healthy so far.
