RBTA has lost all its color?!?!?!?

About 2 months ago I bought this really (ruby) Red Rose Bubble Tip Anemone. I put it in my tank and it kept moving all over the place. Now it has settled in this one location.

Since I got him he has been loosing all of his color. He went from a RUBY Red with a green center to a dull brownish pink color and all the green is gone.

All my other corals are doing fine. He is not really eating any of the Krill I am giving him so I have been spot feeding him with a liquid form coral food mix.

Does anyone know what is going on? How did it transform so much, you can't even recognize it anymore (from what I use to be)? Any ideas how to bring back its Red/beauty???
 
Could be a lot of things. What kind of lights? Water parameters? Age of tank?Other nems in the tank? Previous experiences with nems or this is the first one?
 
This is for my Nano tank
What size tank? 28 gallon JBJ
How long has it been set up? 3 months with me, 6 months prior owner.
Do you have a sand-bed? yes about 2.5 inches
Live Rock? yes about 40 lbs

What are your parameters?

Nitrite 0
PH 8.2
Salinity 1.024
Temp 79-80
Nitrate - I have to check but I am sure its fine.

What lights do you have? JBJ Prefessional Series LEDs (rated strong enough for hard corals).

Other Anemone's: Pipe Anemone on the other side of the tank.

sounds like he's bleaching out from lights, but the lights don't appear to be to much unless he has been higher up in the tank. Sounds odd for sure. Best of luck!
 
I would try and get more light on it. If too much light it will move for shade.

What about flow, it could be moving to get away from or to look for more flow. All of mine seem happy with just gentle flow.
 
The area he is in doesnt have much light as he keeps moving away from it. I have tried feeding him but he wont hold on to any food so know I am spot injecting him.

The current is low, I have tried putting more current on him but he moves. I figured this is where he wants to be but he looks soo bad?!?!?!?!?

I have the same tank as yours and same problem as yours! My JBJ 28g LED seems to don´t work well! Maybe the leds are not good enough to reefing. I have 3 tanks: one with 3 HQI 250W, the JBJ LED and one with T5, and unfornately, the worst is the JBJ, the corals are not doing fine like the others, I had several problems with dwarf BTA, they wandered all the tank, most of them simply faded away, and now I have ony two... two thin and weak ones... I think the problem is lighting, the PAR ... :(

My parameters are perfect, the water quality is good enough to SPS, but the tank simply don´t go on...

Is your JBJ the professional series 3 watt per bulb or the intermediate series?
 
you should check your nitrates, and three months is a pretty short time to add a nem..I found adding nems to quick causes major problems..
 
I would think that the lights are bleaching him out due to the fact that you said he keeps moving toward the darker part of the tank. If it isnt attached to a rock you should try putting it at the bottom of the tank and see if that helps. Good luck and best wishes.
 
And as far as current goes, anemones are as different as people. Some like high flow rate and others like low flow rate. My rbta was originally put in a low flow area of my tank and it moved right into the path of my 3200gph powerhead. It loves the wind blowing in its hair, lol.
