RBTA in JBJ 12g nano??

I bought a RBTA the other day and put it in my sons 12g nano. It seems to be doing great so far but I went to a lfs today and they did not seem to thik that it would work. Has anybody tries this before? Or does anybody have suggestions?

Personally i dont think that pc's are strong enough for stuff like that. That being said, i'm pretty sure i've seen a few people who have stuff like these in their 12g nanos.

However i still think its a bad idea because they grow very large, and pretty fast. It will soon outgrow that tank completely (i've seen them just as big as those 12g tanks themselves before lol)

i have one in a 22g with T5 HOs, its doing very well. remember that they move, and a small tank doesnt have much place for them to move to, except onto corals!

I've kept a RBTA in my 12 nanocube for a few years. If it gets too big, you can move it into your 90.

It'll be fine in there far a while, given that the lighting is suficient. But you'll have a tough time putting much else in there, as it'll move onto stuff in such a confined space.

From you guys that have had success. Do you have any suggestions? Stock tank? Water changes? Small skimmer?

I don't use a skimmer, but I do 2g water changes every week/week-and-a-half. And I modded the hood to have 88w pc over the tank.

I had one in a 12 gallon with 76 watts of PC lights. The lighting did not seem to be enough for it (it eventually died) and it moved around like crazy which kept me from being able to keep corals with it. I like these anemones a lot but not enough to completely give up safely keeping corals with it. FYI: I did have a skimmer running on the tank because I soon found that the silversides I was feeding it a few times a week were very messy.

mine moved around for the first time in 2 months, and seems to have settled... poor water quality is usually a cause of this, which i had after going away for a while and not doing water changes.

I had one, then two, then three and on and on in my 55 a few years back. The tank was lit by 220 PC (110 on each side). The gbt split so many times i lost count, traded a bunch of them over the years. The best thing i did for it as far as i'm concerned was fed it regularly. Maybe that made up for weaker lighting, i'm not sure. Hope this helps,

Ron
