RBTA lost a tentacle

I got a large RBTA about a week ago. Seems very healthy and colorful. Eats well. My GSM loves it.
Today I notices a tentacle had come off of it, should I be concerned or is this normal?

I wouldn't really call it normal, but it is not a cause for concern. Any tentacle damage is easily repaired by the anemone.

Ahhh, a Maroon clown, lol, they are bad at nibbling at tenticles, keep an eye on him to make sure he isnt sucking them off of the anemone.
Very very nice anemone by the way.

I meant I'm originally from mobile.

Thanks, the anemone is very beautiful. There is a guy from NJ, richw, that has the most beautiful and healthy rbta's i've ever seen. When I saw someone selling one from him I jumped all over it.

I'll watch the gsm, havent seen him nibbling yet though.

My RBTA occasionally looses tentacles due to the water flow. Sometimes the current will spin a tentacle in one direction a couple of times and the thing pinches off like a balloon animal. The nem can't seem the untwist it's tentacles and it will fall off at the point where it was twisted after a little while. It doesn't seem to hurt my RBTA though. It just grows another one. I loose a little tentacle section about once w eek or so I guess.

Nice RBTA BTW!

Yo, scarletknight6, how can i get one of those rbta's?????? Can u tell me how to get in touch with richw???? U have one of the most beautiful roses i've ever seen. How deep is ur tank and what kinda lights r u shining?

thanks for the replies everyone. I guess I won't worry about it then.

seaduck, I used to live in NJ, where richw is from, so I bought it from someone who got it from him. His handle is richw so if you search for his posts they should come up in the new jersey reefers club forum. I doubt he would ship one though.

Its a 40 breeder, 18" deep, 16" tall. I run a 4x39w tek light with the new ATI bulbs, 2 aqublue and 2 blue plus.

Mine did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. It seemed to happen around the same time that it split. No biggie.

Yep! That's my vote too.

My Gold Striped Maroon ripped off quite a few tentacles during the first month or so of getting used to the anemone. Nowadays, she's much gentler with the anemone. It's also a BTA.

Yep probably the clown they do yank on them at times like when I feed my Rose's they will pull and tug on them.

Not a big deal though just make sure its not another fish you have in there most the time a Maroon will never let another fish get that close but you never know.

I have a sixline in my Tank and it does get close to the Anenome at times though I have not watched it that close.
