RBTA placement

Just got a RBTA and I placed him in a good flow area with plenty of light. Came home from work that following evening and it moved to a corner behind a rock with little light and low flow. Why is this? Will it be on the move again?

they will move to where they feel is the best spot for them, not where you think it is. it is very possable that it will move again though.

Most of mine have hidden for the first few weeks after a miserable trip (long way from the fish store)

if it isn't extended into the light within a week then take action.

I just went through the same event. The BTA was placed and then decided to move into dark cave like area. Event though it was placed in an area not too brightly lit. A few days later it moved quite a distance and is now perched up on a rock out in the open. I would think this spot will be its final choice.

Give it time to acclimate and it will eventually seek out an appropriate level of lighting. Do not move or harass it, it will only lengthen the acclimation time or harm the bta.

He is fully open, just on the backside of a rock in a shaded area. I moved him once to the front, but he went right back to the "dark side" :strooper:

There is no placment of btas they go where they want. That being said, dont worry about them hiding they will come out when there ready. Both mine went hiding for 5-7 days.. now there right in the center of the tank couldnt be happier. They went where i wanted them to, soo i got lucky i guess
