I don't think it's a bad thing. My rtba took about 3 years to split for the first time. It kept getting bigger and bigger and then finally split. The smaller clone that was generated splits much more frequently. Literally every 6 months or so if I feed it a lot. So I drastically cut back on feeding as I don't want too many of them. They tend to wander around quite a bit initially and sting my corals.
I think they're planning a conspiracy . The original larger anemone is going to turn female and the clones are going to turn male and then they're going to spawn. Then I'll be stuck doing huge water changes and cleaning up the tank, lol.
But seriously, if you want yours to split just keep it well fed and provide good lighting and water parameters and it will happen.
