WOW!! :eek1: :D When the thing splits, they'll both still be huge. lol That's the biggest single one I've seen. Great find. Thanks for sharing.

Tony, you stirring up trouble?;)

In answer to some of the questions raised:

This anemone is one of many clones of one that has been in captivity since at least 1999. To my knowledge it is not a solitary form as it lived among its siblings --many of whom are at least as big-- for years before being moved to this tank about three years ago.

Siblings of this anemone tend to split when they are subjected to harsh stresses or when they are otherwise unhappy with some aspect of their environment which, at this point, would primarily be competition for light/location.

I do not expect this anemone to split in the foreseeable future as it was carefully placed on a bommie designed to provide it with good flow and lighting, and prevent, as much as possible, its "interaction" with other corals. It hosts a pair of fire clownfish.

Is the GA aquarium's reef tank anemone a RBTA? I had always thought so. It's anemonefish is a very, very large tomato, at least 5".

here's a shot of it...

The anemone in the picture is definitely E. quadricolor, aka BTA. Looks orange/red enough to be called a Rose to me.

Any pictures of it bulbed up?
This anemone hasn't exhibited bubble tips in years. Some of its siblings still do given very specific flow conditions or, for a short while, after being sufficiently annoyed by a change in their environment such as right after being moved from one tank to another.
