RBTA spawning event

I witnessed my first spawning event this past Friday night. I have 3 anemones in my tank right now. One is a GBTA and the other two are RBTAS, one of which I bought from Kevin(Anemone). This particular clone when it arrive and opened up was probably 8 inches across and has been eating well ever since. I know now that the clone I puchased is a female, but I'm not sure about the other two, so the chance that the eggs where fertilized is possible. I noticed last Friday night after the tank lights went out, and just the house lights were on that the water didn't look quite right. I then took a flashlight to the tank and saw possibly hundreds of eggs and this thick milky substance coming out of this RBTA. I was amazed to be able to witness this in captivity, and I have had this clone for about three weeks. This kept up for about 30mins, but the water stayed really milky for hours. I would also like to add that the nem wouldn't take food at all prior to the spawning, which it had done anytime I offered it. I didn't lose any livestock, and after a 20 gal. water change and a vinegar and water bath for my skimmer, all is well again:D

How cool is that???? Watch for baby nems on your rock in the near future and post some pictures if you can.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

in the wild they're known to spawn annually i think, perhaps not but i think it's in a shady area in terms of why they do, i think most anemones spawn this way, just not in the aquarium as much since you need a male and female anemone to make this work
