RBTA - T5's

I want to order my first anenome, i just uprgraded to a teklight T5 4X24 watt fixture (1 daylight, 1 aquablue, 2 actinic plus). I was told this lighting should be bright enough for lower light clams, and anenomes. I have a 50 gallon tank that is (30X18X20). I just wanted to make sure this was sufficient before i order.

Would an RBTA make a good first anenome? My tank has been up for 2 years. The RBTA is 59, or i can get a regular for 29.99, but i like the RBTA better. Any opinons would be appreciated.

Hmmm. I dunno if thats enough watts per gallon. But I think it may work. I would defenitly go for a RBTA

I have the exact same lights on my 20 gal H and my RBTA and its clone are doing great.

wattage per gallon doesn't really mean anything. It all depends on the intensity of the light and par readings. I think t-5 lights should be okay for bta.

ATX aquarist, Your anemone is bleached pretty bad and it could be headed for serious trouble. You should feed it a whole lot until it can get some xooanthellae back.

Dont under estimate T5's I agree wattage does not mean anything. A 4 bulb unit with Parabolic Reflectors like the Tek kit is more than enough. For the size tank you have.

I have a 30gallon with the same fixture and bulb mix and my rbta is doing great.

yeah, i think a lot of people underestimate T5's, i dont want to get into the debate of why i chose T5's over MH, but from everything i read, when using T5's you can throw WPG out the window.

ok atx your anemone is bleached how long have you had it?

oh and the tek light would be plenty for an anemone even a haddoni or gigantea carpet would work
t5s are very good
oh and wattspergallon is retarded i run 10wpergallon the watts per gallon rule says i would have bleached coral but i dont they are healthy softies rics shrooms sps lps all happy in tons of light
