RBTA Twisting

I have had this RBTA for 5 weeks now. It is about 6 inches across. I got it from a fellow reefer that was moving so I can't ask him.

It has been twisting at the base near where it is attached to the rock. It seems like it is strangling itself. It looks healthy otherwise.

This is the 2nd time it is doing this. Last time I untwisted it. It stressed it and it stayed closed up for the rest of the day.

Is it trying to split?

What is the "normal" splitting process?

Thank you. That is it exactly! The 1st time it twisted 3 or 4 times around. This time it is only twisted once. It doesn't look comfortable at all. I'm relieved it's not a problem.
