rdsb or rssb

hello,
i'm thinking to install an remote deep sand bed or a remote shallow sand bed.
but my question is : what is best?
i will use a tank 31.5 inch x 16 inch x 16 inch to realize this.
in the tank i want to cut a hole on one side for waterfeed the dsb or ssb , on the other side i want to cut 2 holes for return the water back to the sump.
i want to use a seperate pump for this , and the pump will take water on the side where the skimmer is added and return the water where my supply pump is added. but i don't know nothing about the flowrate from the pump i will use because i read on this forum that some say to use a low flowrate and others say use a high flowrate.

can somebody tell me more please?

I would think that a RDSB would be best for that just due to the fact of the additional surface area of the sand, although a RSSB could also be set up to do a good job. I'm personally in the slow flow and slow turnover camp. There a several ways to set them up, so I think it's best to research carefully. I think that you will also find that this can be a controversial subject so I would proceed with caution.

What advantage do you think you can get from a remote shallow sand bed? I've never even heard of anybody doing that?

for a remote deep sand bed : how many inch of sand i need to put in my remote tank?

It depends on how you set it up. That's where being well read on the subject comes into play. If you Google search "Ron Shimek Deep Sand Bed" and then "Anthony Calfo Remote DSB " you will see a couple of different ways to set up a sand bed.

I'm thinking to install it beside my display tank.
an extra supply pump specially for the rdsb.
on 1 side the pump will put water from my sump where the skimmer is placed to the rdsb and on the other side of the rdsb i'm thinking to put 2 exits where the water returns back to my sump where the main supply pump is installed

is this an good idea?
