Re-aquascaped tank pics

After pulling all of our rock to remove the fish in April, we did a bit of re-aquascaping. The overall theme is still big island, small island, but we tried to create more mounting space for corals.

I'm trying out 2 new lenses on my Rebel XT, so bear with me if you're not into photography. These first few shots were taken with a EF-S 10-22. It's a very neat lens. I'm standing between 3-4' from the tank, and capturing the entire 6' length of the tank. There is some distortion towards the edges, but that's somewhat expected at 10mm.

Our new tomini tang (w/motion blur, best shot I have of it so far)

Most of our acros are collected on the small LR island, they'll get shifted around the tank a little as I finish arranging everything.

The next few pictures were taken with the 24-105 F4L. Yep, one of those addictive "L" professional lenses. This is the first lens I've used with IS - image stabilization, and it makes a huge difference if shutter speeds are marginal. Quite impressive, and it makes more of a difference than I expected.

purple acro - this was just 3 little sticks when I got it.

Very nice pics, I never noticed that huge derasa you have, that must be very old.

I've only had it a year, but it spent a few years in someone else's tank before that. They got rid of it when it outgrew the tank. From overhead, it has a nice orange pattern, but it doesn't show up well in side pictures. Just recently I had to remove a cleaner shrimp that would stand on the clam's mantle and pick at its tissue daily. The clam was spending a lot of time closed up, and its colors are a bit muted right now.

Mel, there's actually slightly more LR in the display than we had before. We pulled a few pieces out of the refugium to add extra bulk. In total, we have about 230lbs of aquacultured LR, and 120lbs. of hirocks (which is pretty much indistinguishable from LR at this point). I think about 50lbs is still in the fuge.

I think that's due to the lens change.

The old pic was taken with a lens at 18mm, with the camera sitting level on a tripod at mid-tank. The new shot was taken with a different lens set to 10mm (much wider angle), and the camera was even with the top of the tank looking downward. Put these together and it creates the illusion of more space.
