I have a blue star damsel that was gorgeous in the catalog---but turned out grey under Metal Halides, rarely blue. I got LEDS, and the fish is suddenly gorgeous. Nothing against either form of lighting. It simply illustrates what happens with widely varying lighting in the hobby.
A person says "I have brown stuff on my sand,' and we have to ask 'baby poo or reddish'---because the light in the tank can affect the way you see it.
Be it corals or fish, you may not get the same effect as what you saw elsewhere unless your lights are similar. It's not always Photoshop. Sometimes it's the difference in light kits---although, indeed, there have been some slight manipulations of that sort, definitely not a practice that will get repeat buyers.
In general, if you're shopping an lfs, give a look to the lights in the shop, and understand that it may be a little different in your system.
