Re: pump 1073.02 cord

When I first received this pump I found the power cord to be rather stiff/hard for being new and comparing it to other Tunze pumps I have. Now after only 3 months of use the cord has hardened even more and has broken away from the motor block and thus causing voltage/electrical leak into the tank water. Is this a common concern for this pump ? Rather disappointed.

Is the cord round or flat? Round was used before 2010, it was over engineered and very stiff, the pump does not need such a heavy gauge. The flat is what we use now and I have not seen any issues except one where it was not sealed into the motor properly.

I would take it up with the dealer, as long as it is less than 2 years since you purchased it and it was purchased new, they should be able to arrange a warranty replacement. We have not used those round cords in a few years, the issue was simply the gauge was too heavy, they were overkill and the rigidity placed too much tension where it met the motor. They used this cord because in the same time period a competitor had the opposite issue and too thin of a cord was leading to cord damage, they erred on the side of overkill and that was also an issue.

That's where I have a problem, I bought it on line(they were in Vancouver) and they are no longer in business. Any other options ? Thx for the replies.

I cannot give a definitive answer as I only handle the US distribution and this is already sort of a grey area by the age of the pump. I would contact Xenia, the distributor/importer for Canada, www.xeniainc.com, I would imagine if you have a receipt, they should be able to help unless it was a used or clearance item and even then I expect they will be able to do something.
