Re Universal Osmolator

ECFENCING

New member
Just purchased a new universal osmolator. Does anyone out there have any pics or set up recommendations ? Will be placing the water lever and high level float sensor in my sump

Also as far as attachment I think I am going to have to cut off the lip of my 20g high sump to make it work.

Thanks in advance

I have mine mounted in my sump. The probes are side by side and the incoming hose from the pump is mounted on the opposite side and pumps in a downward motion into the sump. I think the mounts that come with it will allow you mount without cutting the lip on your sump. I can take pictures if needed, but the probes are mounted so that I can only see the back of the mounts. Let me know if would help. Best investment to date.

You shouldn't have to cut the trim on a 20 gallon. Their is an illustration in the manual showing how to do it. Sensors in sump, water pumps into the aquarium.

Roger,

Does it really matter if the water pumps into the sump instead of the aquarium?

Thanks

It can be a huge problem because the sump is usually shorter than the reservoir and the water will continue to flow due to a siphon. You should always pump up to the aquarium.

Thanks Roger/Doug.

Doug: Do you have any pics? I was thinking of doing the same thing as you with the top off going to the sump but after Roger's post I might just have the top off go to the aquarium. I guess as long as you don't have more water than the the safety reservioir you would be ok. On the 70 I evaporate 0.5 gallons per day.

The picture shows three probe mounts on the left. The two on the right are for the Osmo. On the far right you will see the black hose from the reservoir.

This picture shows the probes from the other side.

Hope this helps.

Nice set up Doug!

Roger I figured you would like it. As you can see I have the Tunze Osmo, Tunze recirc pump, Tunze temp and Tunze 9010 all in the sump area. I also have 2 Tunze 6000's and 7095 controller. Love the products from Tunze, and you give great support.

I had a clear 3/4 PVC that I used to deliver to a height higher than my ro/di tank to stop any siphon - I'll post a picture when I get home
