Ready for clowns?

I have had my tank up and running since last October. I purchased a tiny baby RBTA for $30.00 back in March this year froma LFS. It has grown a ton since I got it. I have been leaving two vacancies in my fish stock for two True Percs. I have been letting my RBTA grow before I introduced the clowns. When I get the clowns they will be juvenile size. I think my RBTA is ready, do you guys think it's ready? I know with my luck I will put the clowns in the tank and they will go no where near the RBTA :rolleye1: .

Thank you, I love watching it grow. I would say it is between 5 and 6 inches across when it's inflated.

NIIICE looking RBTA & gorgeous leopard wrasse too...It only took my onyx perc male 2 days to find my 2 RBTA's; female took about a week. Now they go from one to the other. But be prepared, it may take months for yours to find your nem; or may never happen...Good luck!

Nice looking RBTA. Do you have any pics of it with the bubbles? and yes your tank looks more than ready for some clowns. good luck!

I've been told by some people that a good rule is that the anemone should be 2x the size of the clown to prevent the nem from being too stressed out. Now that being said, I haven't had to worry about that for awhile, since my GSM pair is hosted by 5 RBTA's and my Occelaris pair is hosted by a 12" diameter Sebae nem. In the past I've had 2 GBTA's die on me on two separate occasions with a Cinnamon clown as it's resident. I believe they were stressed out from the constant thrashing the Cinnamon did, but I couldn't tell you for sure.

Thank you for the info. The two percs I'm getting will be atleast half the size of the RBTA if not smaller. I pulled the quarantine tank out and I have a new bio wheel in the sump getting that good bacteria.

Well I got my percs and they have been in the display tank since yesterday. They are beautiful, I couldn't be more happy. I had my local fish store order them for me from Sustainable Aquatics. The female is bigger than what I originally planed on getting but I'm glad I did. She is about three inches long. Last night right around dusk when just the blues were on she started rubbing herself on my RBTA :bounce1: . The anemone shrunk and receeded into the rock a little at first.

Well today when I got home from work I was pleased to see my anemone fully inflated hosting my female clown. The male gets in there a little bit but he is having a blast crusing the tank. They pair back up here and there through out the day, and at night they sleep together.

They did not eat yesterday when I fed the tank. I fed frozen PE mysis, Rod's food reef blend, and some flake. It looked like there were a little freaked out by the feeding frenzy my other fish performed. Today they swam out and started eating a little here and there. I'm hoping they get a little more aggressive at feeding time so they get enough to eat. I will be monitoring closely the next couple of days. I will be posting a video shortly once it's uploaded to youtube.
