I have a Labout wrasse that has been in the QT for 6 weeks eating well and looking good. I just put him into my DT last night and now this morning under the brighter light he appears to have issues. He is acting normal please see photos attached.

Is this something to be worried about or did it just rough itself up hiding in the rocks?

I am very nervous as I just returned everyone else from a tank fallow period due to ich.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It's important to remember that even though he was QTd, it still puts stress on the fish when you move it from QT to the DT. That stress weakens their immune system. I had a similar issue with my Maroon Clownfish. It's hard to see clearly from the pics, are white spots present (salt like) or is it just the white chalk dust like stains? If it's a combination of both I would say it's not just from the rocks.

It very well could be bacterial from the weakened immune system? I would observe it for the next 48-72hrs to see if the condition worsens. If the fish is eating, that's a good sign.

If the conditions don't improve or worsen you can either try fishing it out, thus adding more stress and treat it in the QT or treat with anti-bacterial food which is the route I went because I didn't want to further stress the fish out thus further weakening the immune system..

can you recommend a food?

Yeah, I see you live in Plantation, I live in Sunrise.. Fish Emporium on Univ and McNab sells Dr.G's anti-bacterial food. They sell either the frozen food or the new caviar which is fish eggs. My Maroon Clown didn't like the frozen food much but LOVES the caviar version, as soon as it hits the water she's all over it as well as my other fish. They're both the same price... Here's the link so you can read about it. http://www.drgsmarineaquaculture.com/medicated-fish-food.cfm

I'd try that first before attempting to reQT and add further stress..

I can't tell from the pic. Is this just discoloration or peeling/sloughing skin? FWIW, this doesn't look like a bacterial infection.

Thanks, I think i'll feed som dr g's and watch. I've been through ich and it's not salt spots.

I guess I'll reply to my own post. This looks like possible brooklynella; if the fish is acting normally now, it probably isn't. If the skin is peeling or sloughing off, it probably is brook. A very deadly and quick acting parasite.

Sorry for the late reply. The skin does not appear to be pealing or sloughing off. I have been trying to get better picks. the fish is acting normal and ate well again tonight. the more i look the more they look like scrapes.
