Really?

Wow.

And I was just commenting on the price of some zoas...lol...pretty fish, but not something I'd shell $2900 for...oh well...to each his own...

These guys are very special and truly deserving of the rare fish tag. Most people don't really think they are very attractive but I personally have always preferred the black and white clowns over the orage and white and these are pretty much the holy grail of Clownfish (Oman's are right up there as well). Legal specimans have not been available in recent memory and most of these went overseas thus the high price tag.
Here are a few more cool pics of these guys that show them being captive bred and raised which is where the one on ebay more than likely came from.

The photo on ebay is a stock shot which makes me wonder if they even have them. The description states that they have been in stock since Dec. 2nd so why no WYSIWYG pics?

yes really, some people will pay ANYTHING for rare fish.even $2900 for one clownfish.

It is worth as much as people want to pay.

This is the first time I have seen them in the US but I only go back about 18 years in this hobby and this fish wasn't exactly on my radar when I was a noob in high school. I was happy to find a true Percula clown at my LFS in Michigan at that time.:D
If my sources are correct the guy who has the breeding pair that produced these babies is one of a very select few that have McC's and he had to go through a lot to get them. Obviously his babies will add a few more to this exclusive club and hopefully more people will get them and start breeding them thus lowering the price and making them more readily available at a cheaper price.
I personally would pay that price for a pair but not for just one and you have to have pairs when keeping clownfish. :)
